The way I pray with my family is of course meals. Also Morning prayer, and Bedtime prayers.
My cousin has autism. It is more extreme than most. He is four too. So I know where your coming from I help take care of him when the need is there. He like to repeat the prayer when we pray.
BTW Greg,
I understand what you meant with the whole Star Wars reference. I feel you man!
I want some autism twine too, but you could have guessed that.
Hi Greg and Jennifer,
I really like Magnificat. I think it’s a great missal. I would like to recommand another missal. It’s called “Living with Christ”. It’s published by Novalis in Ottawa, Canada (Canada!!!). It’s very portable, and like Magnificat, there are meditations, articles about saints and cover art work. It’s used pretty much everywhere in Canada, and I do see it from time to time in the US. Check it out if you have time. I’m sure you’ll like it. Here’s their web site: http://www.novalis.ca/

I also like “Living with Christ. I subscribe to the monthly periodical. It contains the Order of Mass as well as the daily liturgy for all Masses and the different prefaces chosen for that month. The subscription also includes two special editions:The Easter Triduum and the Christmas phase of the liturgical year.
It is also availble in large print format.
If you call the toll-free number on their website, you can order a leather or vinyl cover to strengthen the booklet.
It is truly an excellent publication.
Just remembered…”Living with Christ” uses NRSV, which is approved in Canada. Is the NAB (or RNAB) used in the U.S.?
I loved the part with Jennifer reacting to Greg’s analogy between the shutting of the doors of the TV cupboard and the shutting of the blast doors in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back. I couldn’t stop laughing!
Greg, may His Force be with you!
:D
Hello! Just wanted to leave my input about Episode #102. The Magnificat is a great publication; I have a hard time with it only because our house is very busy with soon to be six kids and homeschooling. I wanted to pass on to people that may be interested that if you visit their website, they will send you a free copy to try out.
Also, my favorite prayer for parents is the St. Monica prayer. It goes like this:
O Lord, Who taught St. Monica to persevere for the good of her family, help me to be a better parent to my children. Help me to have patience with them when they misbehave, and give me the strength to guide them gently on the right path. Permit me always to forgive their misdeeds, and keep me from speaking harshly or punishing unwisely. Please help me to be a beacon of goodness for them as they grow to adulthood, and a good example to them in all I say and do. Amen.

Soon to be Six?? Congrats, Lu! That’s great news!
One of our local churchs recites the communion antiphon together when the “priests lips touch the chalice”….
