Catholic Minute: The Swiss and the Swedes

New on SQPN: Catholic Minute! Short, experimental video podcasts produced with Castblaster Video beta. A mixed bag of videoclips and topics presented by Fr. Roderick.

Note that the video cuts off just before the ending: Castblaster Video didn’t render the last few seconds. That’s all part of the beta fun :)

  1. Awesome, I’m glad you finally started making new Catholic Minute episodes.

  2. Just watched it, that’s really cool….the quality of what castblaster does isn’t that great though. You’ve got to show off the program so we can see how it works.

  3. Keep in mind that CB video is still a very early beta, and I’m working with very low quality material: a super cheap webcam and some very low bitrate movieclips. It’s all experimental for now :)

  4. Father, this may not be the proper place to ask, but back when you were making short videos of your visit to New York City you mentioned a video you made of people walking their dogs in Central Park. Any chance we’ll be seeing that one soon?

  5. @Fr. Don’t worry about the equipment. Content before quality.

Throw another log on the fire. You’re doin’ great.

  6. Hi Fr. Roderick,
Please do not show those Swiss cheeses again at our ‘borreltijd’. It makes us very hungry.
    Cheers from Lisse,
    Annelies & Frank

  7. Cool video.

Where are you sitting? In your study? Or something more formal?

  8. Father,

for a beta version of software I think it did a really good job rendering.

Your production quality was also very good. If I didn’t know better I would think that you were on the set of a TV studio rather that in front of your computer.

Good work, and good work Castblaster Mike!

  9. Very, very cool! It may be a simple video, but it’s such a pleasure to hear and see you.

I could just hear Homer Simpson watching that episode saying, “Mmmmm, cheeeese…”

  10. …and thanks for the witty, pithy (and cheesey, in the best sense) contribution from Switzerland. Let’s hope it encourages others to fire up their firewire and get shooting.

  11. Kudos to you, Fr. Roderick. I really dig the intro with the stopwatch. I’m looking forward to future episodes.

    Woo-hoo cheese!

  12. Great show, Fr. Roderick. Thanks so much for reviving Catholic Minute. Just one quick question. Would you make the ole episodes of Catholic Minute (such as Lourdes, St. Bernadette, and advent ‘05) available again? If they are still available, could you point me to where I can find them? God gless,
    Jack

  13. Fr., it is so nice too see you. I didn’t know about Catholic Minute! I agree with Jack, it would be nice if you could make the old episodes available so we can all be on the same page :) I am also looking forward to see new stuff from your trips to NY, GA and the Podcast Awards and maybe you can show us your neighborhood :) Thanks for all your time and dedication.

  14. Hello Patricia,

I found the “old” episodes in the i-tunes shop.
Great great great etc. etc. ….
Keep this up and I wil never never watch tv again.

    Thanks workers of SQPN

  15. I might repost those old episodes in the new feed in the future, don’t worry.

  16. Ikea and Abba. That’s classic.
