  1. Too funny, Father. Looking forward to part 2 of the Wii Experience!

  2. Darn you Fr. Roderick, I’ve been hunting one of those for a while. Oh well, I’m gonna wait for Wii Play to come out, it has an extra wii-mote with it!

  3. Sigh…I want a Wii now I might be forced to spend money I shouldn’t spend to get one! Oh well, for now I will not get one as I don’t really have the money.

  4. Go wander around town more! I love the all the wonderful stuff in the background that you pass so casually.

  5. I agree with Terry, Fr. Roderick. I know you have given us a few sound-seeing tours of Amersfoort in the past episodes of Catholic Insider. But we’re in 2007, and this year is the year that SQPN goes video! Please, please show us more about Amersfoort in Catholic Minutes. Thank you, father, and as always, God bless.
    Jack

  6. I third the motion, Father. Love the footage of you going through Amersfoort. How about a tour of your parish?

  7. Hi Father, I would love to see the video, but when I downloaded it via iTunes I get a lot of fuzzy lines. Please can you give us a quick lesson on the easiest way to view your video - it’s driving me nuts! Thanks

  8. Hi Father

I loved the clip on St.Burnadette i thought it was very professional, entertaining and lets not forget educational…Im very excited about whats instore for SQPN in the new year

  9. We (Wii) already know what happens next? It’s not like you were going to just leave it in the box. ;)

  10. I fourth the motion to show us more of Amersfoort.

  11. Please, Father, wander around town some more as I just love seeing Amersfoort!

  12. I have the same problem as Mary - after listening to Father Roderick talk about the Wii, now I want to buy one too! Hopefully the shops get more Wii’s soon so that I can buy one.

  13. Great new show Father! I feel like as a Daily Breakfast listener that I already know what happens when you bring your Wii home. :)
On a side note, there’s piece of guitar music that you use in the middle of your show that is also used as the opening tune on another podcast called Short Attention Gamer (http://www.shortattentiongamer.com/).

It’s a good gaming podcast and I’m sure the music is something that’s available under the creative commons liscence for podcasters to use. :)
Happy New Year and keep up the good work!

    Chris

  14. Excellent! I just got an ipod for Christmas from my husband and I love it! You are the first podcast download to which I subscribed and I have loved every minute of it!!
    Continue the wonderful work!
    God bless!!!!!

  15. Father, what is the music you use at the intro of the video podcasts. I really like it can you give us the group name or a link to their stuff?

    Thanks,
    Nate

  16. This is probably a really dumb question but when you walked through Amersfoort, were you filming yourself? How do you keep the camera so steady?

It occured to me that you really have to forget about how you may look walking down the street seemingly talking to yourself and holding a camera. :-) As someone who talks to herself all the time, I can relate. :-)

  17. Father Roderick,

I was going to wait for my birthday in May to try and get a Wii, but all your raves about it on the Daily Breakfast make it so I’m not sure I can wait that long! I do have a Gamecube so that helps.

I like the video podcasts, but when I try and load it into my portable mp3 and video player it locks up during conversion - I went with a non-apple brand (Sandisk Sansa) so that may have something to do with it. I’ll have to view them on my PC for now.

Also, I’ve never heard anyone refer to a gaming system as ‘game computer’ before, usually here in the US at least we call it ‘game console’.

    Keep up the good work!

  18. I think ‘game computer’ is a hybrid english-dutch word: in Dutch it is a ’spelcomputer’ (spel = game). And in the anglo-saxon part of the word it’s a game console. ;)

  19. Be careful with that thing, you’ll throw your back out.

  20. My wife and I are also more and more tempted to get a Wii thanks to you, Fr. Roderick. You are Wii-ving a spell over us! We finally decided to buy ourselves one for Valentine’s Day. Hopefully by then the craze will have died down and we can get one without too much hassle. Ah, geek love…

  21. I had the Wii from Amazon. But i send it back. I didn’t like the Wii Sports Mini Games much. After the first day i was pro 1000 points in everyone and had no motivation to play any further. Zelda would be nice but i used the 14 day return warraty befor that. Maybe i was just overexcited with it.

    peace out and god bless
    Pascal

  22. hey there father i visited amersfoort in november and had a great time, sorry we couldnt meet, tell me was that the kamperbinnenport that you walked through in the video , if so that was real close to where I was staying. Oh and by the way even thhough I didnt understabd your homily on Christ the King I liked the party hat Haha!

  23. [I posted this in the forums, but the comments area seems to be more active, so I am posting it here as well--sorry for the repeat.]

Fr. Roderick, are there any plans to put the episodes of the Catholic Minute on Youtube? When you posted the videos of your trip to America and your video of Jack the Depressed Pumpkin, I was able to embed those into the blog I have for my students. My students are 13 and 14 years old, and they loved seeing you and your work (and so did their parents).

I can’t embed the Catholic Minute in my blog–all I can do is provide a link to the files. I have told my students about how to subscribe your podcasts, but embedding them into my blog makes it super easy for them to watch. And as they get older, who knows how many of them will become SQPN subscribers?

I think you could really increase your viewership by posting the Catholic Minute (and all future SQPN video podcasts) to Youtube, so I hope you consider this. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

  24. you are awesome!
