Did Thomas Aquinas ever have a pet?
I have no doubt that there will be 4 legged animals in the afterlife. What concerns me a lot is here on earth. The CC is clear, for the most part, in it’s policy against abortion and “mercy killing”. What about when a pet gets terminally ill and the Vet advises “putting it to sleep”?
I have done it, but have never felt right about it. But I also don’t feel right about allowing a pet’s, or a person’s suffering to go on and on with no hope of recovery.
Let’s face it, doctors “ease” patients into death every minute.Do we object to that little bit of extra morphine that slows the breathing to a place of no return?
These are all very difficult and painful questions.
I am currently studying theology and writing my dissertation on Thomas Aquinas and the goodness of creation. Thank you so much for your lively and sympathetic discussion of animals possibly going to heaven. Some more interesting scriptural citations about how God cares for (and will restore and perfect) all of creation are from Isaiah 65, Romans 8:19-25, and Job 38-41. Keep up the good work!
Have you tried using Doppler (www.Dopplerradio.net)? It can auto add files downloaded to iTunes, and you get much better control over downloaded files as well. If Doppler adds the files they would just be in the library and therefore should auto synch up to your shuffle.
Just an idea, from a happy Doppler user (for years).
