  1. Katherine,
Wonderful interview with your sister. This subject affects many people who suffer from depression and find themselves feeling misunderstood. It’s not easy for them to try to deal with it but must also endure the impression that “it’s just the blues, so get out there and move on.” Barbara-Jean bravely described her story and had great insight into how God helps one take the necessary steps to work through this.
Thank you for the interview and all the best to Barbara-Jean.

  2. I could really relate to this so much. I hope it isn’t scary to you that I have been dealing with depression since at least the early 1980s.

I actually was told by my pastor (I wasn’t Catholic yet), who was an educated man, that I was being attacked by demons. And I’m sure they were getting their licks in, but it steered me away from getting effective help for many years.

Thank you both so much for doing this. I think it’s a great trial to feel like you can’t be the person God calls you to be without medication. And to not be able to sort clearly through what is from the illness and what is from the spiritual life.

Our parish priest recently gave a homily and (along with the main topic) spoke about his own personal experience with serious depression. I was and still am so grateful that he told us about that.

I really hope LOTS of people hear this podcast.
