  1. Hi Father Roderick,

Thanks for including a link to the post in VOX Daily.

When I was listening to my audio feedback, one of the thoughts that went through my mind was that I should not have called in on my portable phone and used the stationary phone! A tip to anyone who wants to send in audio feedback :)
Next time, I’ll send you an MP3 recording via email - as a podcaster who usually sounds much better and clearer, I’ve learned my lesson!

Thank you again for playing the feedback and also for directing people to read more about Brian Noe at Voices.com.

We’ve also plugged SQPN on our most recent podcast episode (#17) - I hope it gives you a better idea of what I really sound like :)

  2. Father, I sent you some tips that will hopefully help your iMovie issues. Check your email.

  3. Hi Fr. Roderick,

I listen to your podcast everyday on the way home from work. Everytime while listening, things cross my mind, that I would love to tell you, but when I get home (and see my beautiful wife) I forget everything. So sorry I can’t comment the topic, I just can tell: Great work!!

  4. Love every show Father, but not a fan of removing the song at the beginning of the show. I loved the music you picked, I’ve bought music from many of the artist highlighted on your show and will miss it… Take care and love the Wii episodes in the Catholic Minute!

  5. I’ll have a proposal in tomorrow’s show about how to bring back some music in the Daily Breakfast, but in a different way than before… so stay tuned.

  6. Thanks for yet another great episode!

  7. Fr. Roderick,
Yoga was mentioned by one of your listeners, and you seemed to not have a problem with this. I read somewhere that the Vatican regards Yoga as a para-religious movement. I thought a Catholic should steer clear of this. What do you think?

  8. In the Vatican’s document about New Age, “Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life”, the Vatican warns against Yoga in the context of an overal New Age philosophy that replaces a living relationship with Jesus Christ by an impersonal search for ‘enlightenment’ or self-fulfilment.

Yoga -within the context of the New Age movement- is mentioned twice:

    1) in 2.1 as one of the old traditions that, with many other oriental traditions and philosophies, ‘flows’ into New Age (i.e. New Age is a melting-pot of those traditions)

    2) in 2.3.4.1 when it is practiced by New Age followers, as a quest for self-fulfilment and enlightenment, disconnected from the Christian search for fulfilment by entering into a loving relationship with Jesus.

So the document warns against a practice of Yoga that would ‘by-pass’ Jesus in our desire for fulfilment. However, when Yoga was mentioned by one of the listeners, it was specified that this was not ‘regular’ Yoga, but ‘Christian Yoga’, which sounds like something different from what the Vatican warns against.

However, I have no specific knowledge what this ‘Christian Yoga’ entails. If you want to know more about the Vatican’s position on oriental traditions in the context of New Age, here’s a link to the document. It’s a very interesting text, that clearly defines the differences between the New Age currents and the Catholic view on human life, God and spirituality:

  9. Fr. Roderick,
I have been contemplating beginning yoga classes for quite a while, but steered clear because I was not quite sure if this was an accepted practice for Catholics. Because of the comments on your program and on this blog, I have done some reasearch and found the following information:
    http://www.acfnewsource.org/religion/christian_yoga.html
This article offers various links for further study and one of the links is to then-Cardinal Ratzinger’s Letter to Catholic Bishops.
Thank you for this and all your podcasts, they truly are helping me grow spiritually.
