  1. It doesn’t show up in the feed yet.

  2. And healthycatholic.com doesn’t seem to be around either. :(

  3. @mike: Father said it will be up, but that it will take some time

  4. Father Roderick,

This was a wonderful episode! I learned more about how to run, and I enjoyed seeing your beautiful city :)

  5. Hi F. Roderick,

I enjoyed watching you running and your nice city as well. Unfortunatly, if I would do a morning run, I would have to get up very early at about 5:30 am.. :-(
    have a nice day

  6. @Andreas: simple solution…. do an evening run instead! It doesn’t matter when you do your training, as long as you DO it :)

  7. Thank you so much for starting this healthy catholic series! I need to lose a bunch of weight too & it is great to be able to work on this with others, even if we are all on opposite ends of the earth!

I really enjoy seeing parts of your city as well and I hope that we’ll be able to see more of your corner of the world.

  8. Phantastic !

HC has already become one of my favourite shows on SQPN.

So great to get some more glimpses of your lovely town, parish and everything……

  9. Kinda like health show meets Catholic Insider. Very cool. I haven’t traveled much in the world but feel like I have after seeing these videocasts. You are actually the first person to make running a viable option for a couch potato like me!

You must have a strong arm though, holding up your video camera all that time while walking and running. :-)
You really do have a gift. Keep up the great work! p.s. LOVED the Vatican Radio interview.

  10. Dear Father,

Another interesting addition to SQPN! I love seeing around Amersfoort.

Here in Australia (and the US shows I have seen) health shows (especially those which deal with losing wight) usually include a warning which goes something like: please consult your health care professional before embracing on any exercise programme. Think about it!

  11. What a beautiful city you live in! I wonder if this means you’re now the ambassador of Amersfoort with all this promotion :)
I can’t get over how sharp the image of your video podcasts are!

Right now, I’m trying to increase my endurance on the treadmill so I can join my friend when we go jogging together this spring. He’s been jogging for a year now so I need to train if I want to keep up. It is taking a long time for me to increase my endurance but so far I noticed tiny gains. but still, I can’t go beyond 13 minutes.

  12. Fr. Roderick, you already put me on the track by pointing out the existence of:
Maya (Yourself!Fitness) and Phedippidations (an awesome podcast on running). Do you actually want me to run my next marathon in Amersfoort?
Thanks for this great RC Sport Show.

  13. Hi Fr. Roderick,
Your challenge has inpired me to try to lose aproximately 35 lbs. (current BMI is 28.3). I started my runs todays (I plan to do 3 runs per weeK). I got up really early, around 4:45 am, and am following a scehdule I got from coolrunning.com ( http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). Please keep posting your progress. It keeps us inspired.

    kindest regards,

  14. Hi Fr Roderick
I love your healthy Catholic series! I hope you inspire many to run with you. I completed my first marathon 2 weeks ago, and I couldn’t have done it without SQPN podcasts. I listened to DB and RA while I was doing my training. It kept my mind off of how bad I was hurting!!

  15. Oops. Spelled my name wrong!

  16. Well, I don’t know what happened to the posting where I spelled my name wrong, so here it goes again! :) Sorry if this shows up twice!

Fr Roderick, I love your Healthy Catholic videocasts. I hope you inspire many people to run with you. I recently completed my first marathon, and could not have done it without the DB & RA podcasts. You guys kept me going during my training, and kept my mind off of how bad I was hurting! God Bless you!

  17. wow, This has inspired me!:P So I think I will join you in the fight for a better health. Actually om going for my first rund, now!:D

  18. Hello!

Not had a chance to watch this yet, but I am very much looking forward to it and it is a great idea!

By way of inspiration, a couple of years ago I lost a whopping 91 pounds over the course of a year… My BMI went down from 37.3 to 22.7 - and I’ve managed to keep the weight off for a year or so now!

I look and feel much much healthier now - I’ve tried diets lots of times, but this time it just seemed to work for me - a combination of personal willpower and, I am convinced, the answering of a lot of my prayers for extra self-control too!

Good luck to you all on your healthy Catholic mission!

  19. Can you give us a video tour of your own parishes? That would be great.
