  1. The slap at Confirmation was done away with when the rite was updated in 1971.

The touch on the cheek that the bishop gave while saying “Pax tecum” (Peace be with you) to the person he had just confirmed was interpreted in the Roman Pontifical as a slap, a reminder to be brave in spreading and defending the faith: “Deinde leviter eum in maxilla caedit, dicens: Pax tecum” (Then he strikes him lightly on the cheek, saying: Peace be with you).

  2. ………..we could even hand out some virtual SQPN T-shirts and/or make a joint field-trip. ;-) ;-)

Among all this madness there is so much great stuff to see and experience within Second Life:

    - Ancient Rome
    - St. Pauls Cathedral
    - Star Trek Museum
    - Star Wars Experience
    - Catholic Meditation Center
    - and so on……..

    Hello Father,

what do you think about a virtual SQPN meet-up in Second Life ?

We could for instance schedule a jour fixe, such as:

    - every first friday of the month at 22h CET
    - location: the library (its a very lovely and quiet place within SL)
    - surl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hyperborea/111/110/28

-> this is just a first suggestion, maybe we can start a little discussion beforehand in the DB

Anyway, it would be so great to have a platform where we could meet each other as SQPN community.

  3. During RCIA, Sister Mary Leon said that the “slap” it was an old tradition to remind you that Confirmation made you part of the army of God, and were consequently open to attack and should toughen up. But even she thought it might be an idea some one’s granny had come up with.

  4. And this Dr Phil talk is all very well and good, but - WHAT ABOUT BATTLESTAR?!?!?

  5. @Terry: listen to tomorrow’s show to find out :D

  6. @Father- According to my Urologist, the nausea is caused by your kidney(s) being blocked by the stone. When you start vomiting, it’s time to go to the DR because you can get septic very quickly and that can kill you.
I get lots of kidney stones, too.No fun at all. I always wait until the last minute to go to the DR, but sometimes that can be very dangerous.

  7. Paracetamol is the same thing as acetaminophen, which is the active ingredient in brands such as Tylenol. Both names derive from abbreviations of different forms of the chemical name of the compound: N-acetyl-para-aminophenol or para-acetyl-amino-phenol.

  8. Thanks to Jeff Miller for the “complete” explanation of the old rite. Being one who actually went through that in second grade, I remember being told that it was the bishop’s way of saying “Wake Up!… You are now a soldier for Christ… go do what you have been called to do.”

  9. Thanks so much for playing “To be an Angel” on your podcast.
don’t forget that you can download it for free at our website.
