Fr. Bill,

You are amazing. It's great to see the Church use modern tecnology to evangelize . . . we need it for sure!

Love your podcasts! I've been telling others about them and hope they visit your website and experience them. All for the greater glory of God!

I've received e-mails from folks saying that they will need to buy a switcher due to the lack of inputs on the back of their HDTV. Be aware that the AppleTV will not work when a switcher is placed between it and the TV. Other devices are not likely effected. That's my situation. If you have only one HDMI input, you may want to use the switcher for all those devices that need HDMI while using the RGB component outputs for the AppleTV. Component cables can handle HD content too. Just a thought for yall!

As always, great job Fr. Bill. I just got mine a couple of days ago - as everyone is saying, the setup couldn't be easier and the viewing and listening experience is, shall I say it, heavenly. The iPhone got more attention, but the AppleTV is the understated innovation.

Great video! Thank you Fr. Bill!
Should I get the Apple TV now, or save the money for the iPhone? Or may be the true video iPod?

Thanks for the response Fr. Bill. It is leagal in Norway to rip DVDs you own, but I don't know about the leagal system in the US, but I would guess that it is fair use.

And thanks for the info Bob. And George, you know priest don't have to worry about the wife factor, they can buy what gadgets they want as long as they have the money :-P

Dear Viking,
If you have the software to rip a DVD, then it is simply a matter of exporting it, vi Quicktime, with the preset for AppleTV. The legality of this is still in question, so I would recommend using one's own DVD player to watch movies. Besides, the DVD's have the extras that make the DVD format so appealing. I will be buying a movie to download for review, but I would prefer to have my movies on DVD if only for those extras. I believe that Windows Media Center should allow one to watch movies from a DVD and stream the content to the xbox on your TV. I cannot see any reason why this could be added as a firmware upgrade for the AppleTV in the future. I'm not a Window's geek, so any input would be helpful here.
The HD content for the AppleTV is rather restrictive. It must be no more than 1270 X 720 at 24 frames per second. That means that not all the HD samples on Apple's own web site can be used on the AppleTV. Some would need to be down-converted.

I'm expecting my Apple TV today. Great video. I have heard that the streaming quality is quite good for the video, so that there's really no need to synch movies and tv shows. Since the HD is only 40GB, it seems to make sense to synch the photographs.

Great video Fr. Bill! I also want one. I have one question though, can you also rip DVDs (which you own) and play them trough the apple tv?

Fantastic video! It is definitely worth watching, if you are interested in the TV device.

Fr. Bill, you have a talent for doing videos like that: entertaining, full of energy and informative!
