Great show, We (Jenni and I) had our honeymoon in Hawaii and visited about every Catholic church we could find. Hearing more about Fr. Damian and his life was very enriching!

@ Bob,
I’d love to go visit Fr. Damien’s church on Molokai, but it’s tough to get to. The lepers were intentionally placed on this peninsula on Molokai that is surrounded on three sides by water, and bounded by very tall mountains. The only way out was up the mountains or into the water.
Today you can apparently access it by mule train from the main part of Molokai, or by a small airstrip near the leper settlement. Apparently there are still a few remaining from the original settlement - though they have been able to leave for decades - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/22/health/main545392.shtml
Hi Doc!
Your pronunciation of “Frei Galvão” has improved a lot! Keep practicing it, while doing Fr. Beshoner’s spiritual working out.
Full prostration, on your knees…
Thanks for the great episode!
P.S.: I haven’t seen “Molokai”, but there’s a good review of it on the Decent Films site.
P.P.S: If possible, send me that pdf letter.
I’ve seen this version on VHS. If someone is interested in having the tape I can send it (I don’t have a VHS any more, still got the tape).
I was very moved by it. Actually it was one of those movies who made me curious about christianity. Very dangerous, see what it has done to me…
You have… Time Masheen? (~20:30)
Just teasing Paul. Thanks for the episode.
Yikes, 1997? I guess I wish I were 10 years younger!
