We started to use the shorts in our Mystigogia class. We project it on a screen using a light-pro. Where, of the many venues we can see the shows, can I access the highest quality version of the show. I will link to the most current version on my website http://www.khemraj.org

Loved the show! Good info and great fun! I sat next to a Evangelical minister last year at a prayer breakfast. In our conversation, he seemed somewhat interested in Catholic doctrine about one thing and another. I suggested that he might benefit by reading the Catechism. He furrowed his brow and asked, with all seriousness, "How big is it?" . I said "Oh, about the size of the bible you got there - more or less. I'll make it a gift". He shook his head and said with dismay "Noooooo thanks, I don't have time to read a big book like that!" He seemed annoyed that I even thought he might be interested. "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm", thought I.
I think it would have been neat if I had had a copy with me. Maybe if I had suddenly produced it and held it before his eyes he might have let out a blood-curdling scream! That would have given a little life to that prayer breakfast. Anyway, keep up the good work. God bless you and your efforts.

Jennifer and Greg,
Thanks for the great show. I had great fun watching it. Just one quick question, though. Why was the catechism published in French first and then Latin? Wouldn't you expect the opposite it true? Thanks and God bless.

Yseult - One more bit of background. We obviously used the Catechism as our main source of information for this episode. From the back cover of the Catechism published by the USCCB: "The first new compendium of Catholic doctrine regarding faith and morals in more than 400 years, the Catechism of the Catholic Church stands, in the words of Pope John Paul II, as "a sure norm for teaching the faith" and an "authentic reference text."

We didn't go into detail, but we did state that the Catechism is the first comprehensive collection in over 400 years. Not the first one, but the first one in 400 years. That would fit in with the timeline provided by Yseult.

We'd love to go into more detail, but TCS is better suited for providing a high level introduction to a subject, which allows for greater detail through conversation, such as is the case here.

Thanks for the additional info Yseult.

Another great show! I am keeping you in my prayers for all your projects and the upcoming EC and I wish you good luck and Godspeed with your work on banners, CDs, DVDs and the like.

However I fear that some information concerning the CCC might be a bit misleading. You seem to suggest that the CCC was only published in 1992 and was in fact an invention of the Second Ecumenical Council (Vatican II). While it is certainly true that Vatican II did redefine the group of people for whom the catechism was published, it certainly wasn't a new invention.
The catechism as a synthesis of catholic doctrine was written following a decree by the Council of Trent (1545) in 1562 and the following years and was later known as the <em>Cathechismus Romanus</em> (probably to distinguish it from the Catechism of Geneva by Calvin which is from 1542). The form of the Trent Catechism followed a previous version of a compendium of the catholic doctrine by Petrus Canisius (<em>Summa doctrinae christianae</em>). These parts are also followed by the current Catechism, the CCC which cites the 'old' catechism several times as a document of the church btw.
Since these 'old' catechisms were foremost written and destined for the use of priests in their teachings, there have been several Compendiae around that were destined for the daily use of the faithful. One of the most famous ones was the one by Pope Pius X. The Compendiae are written in question form, which comes directly from the first versions which were also written and used in this form. Also the CCC has been accompanied by such a compendium in question form which usually is what you learn in catechism class. (It has been reissued by Benedict XVI in 2005: http://www.vatican.va/archive/compendium_ccc/documents/archive_2005_compendium-ccc_en.html )

I hope this helps to clear up certain points and please forgive the nitpicking if you think that this was clear already.

Take care and God bless!

Love the rain. Love the scare. Love the CCC.

Sure hope you're planning a TCS about the *main* book Catholics *should* be reading even more often than the CCC: Sacred Scripture! Somewhere in the CCC is states that the study of scripture is the "soul of theology."

Oh, and keep the bloopers coming!

Great show, if just to hear Jennifer scream. It was so passionate I bet it was reordered toward the end [grin].

"That Catholic Show", Like the Catechism, for the MTV generation.

wonderful presentations!

i have been able to locate these on google and download them...... the only one i cannot find is the 2nd episode on google to download....hurry, i can't wait!

i give a number of retreats/talks/presentations and, of course, homilies! To be able to show people what is on the net, ipods, etc. is such a great help, esp. to young people and families!

Keep up the good work!
