Father Roderick,
Thanks for ansewring my star trek question. OZ is ounces and yes the US measurements are crazy and it’s the customary system and only 3 countries use it.
Fr. Roderick,
I know Star Trek only from the movies, and I don’t think any of them really stinks, but the worst one is definitely the fifth one. I’ve seen it some time ago, but I remember the silly plot involving God, and that in it we know that Dr. McCoy euthanized his own father
On the other hand, when I saw Nemesis I also didn’t like it, but after reading this reviewof the movie, written by Catholic apologist Jimmy Akin, who happens to be a Star Trek fan, I saw it again, in a different light, and actually liked it a lot.
Also, Father, it would be interesting if you cited the authors of the comments when you quoted them on the podcast.
The first link on my previous comment was wrong this is the right one.
Two quick points about smoothies:
1. You can use frozen fruit and then you don’t need to add ice. It somes out much smoother and just as cold!
2. Most people do not get enough protein in their diet, so I always use a vanilla flavored protein powder in mine rather than the yogurt. The powder, along with some non-fat or low-fat milk gives the same thickening consistency, but adds some much needed protein.
Oh, just to follow up on the frozen fruit idea. Another benefit is that the fruit can last longer. I cut up some bananas at the beginning of the week and put them into separate baggies, one for each smoothie. If you find they are too hard, just let them sit for a bit first. I regularly use frozen strawberries, raspberries and even mango! They all come packaged frozen in my grocery store, so no extra work at all.
For those of use who were fans when the orriginal Star Trek TV show was broadcast, the ultimate trekkie experience was watching a rerun of the orriginal Kahn TV episoide and then seeing The Wrath of Kahn in the cinema.
Enjoy.
Did I really hear you say that there are Star Trek fans fantasizing about a starship hoovering above the Earth?
I didn’t know that the Enterprise had a built in vacuum cleaner!
Father,
a couple of shows ago you were searching for a way to convert Flash Video into an other video format.
One cool service ist this one:

Blender, juicer… I thought perhapa, at first, that you were talking about a “Food Processor”… ???
Father,
maybe you have already mentioned it in one of your shows, but I just like to know, which kind of blender you are using (model / brand).
Thanks !
Hi Fr. Roderick!
I am a ZENcast user and I was waiting to have your latest DailyBreakfast episode (#321), but it didn’t download automatically as it always does. Do you know which could be the reason? I wouldn’t want to miss any of your episodes.
God bless you
Riki, sometimes our hosting service, Libsyn, has temporary problems and can’t deliver the file. If you use iTunes, the program stops downloading, and you have to restart downloading manually. You can also download the episode manually via the website, or listen online. Good luck!
Dear Fr. Roderick,
Thanks for your kind reply. No, we don’t use iTunes; we use ZENcast Organizer.
We hope Libsyn works better soon. Meanwhile, we will have to listen to it via the website.
It is easier when we can just connect our Zen V to our music entertainment centre while we are doing other things at home
.
Have a great week
!
There are plenty of us Catholics in AL, and even other listners! Aaron (or Erin) if you are around these boards, drop me a line. Or Fr. Roderick, if you could pass along my addresses in this post, please do. Either way, know that I’ll be praying for you.
I am also a Catholic from Alabama and would be glad to help Aaron if I can. I was raised in a fundamentalist church, and like Aaron, I converted to the Episcopal Church while in college and then to Catholicism in my 30’s. Most Catholic churches in the state will provide you with a sponsor if you don’t have one. RCIA, the program for adults who want to enter the church, usually starts in August or September. Just call your local Catholic Church and they will help you.
