Hello,
Great show… thanks for playing my feedback.
Question? Do you find yourself talking to many non-Catholic’s about our Blessed Mother and the Rosary? I would love to hear about more of these experiences if you do.
As far as the forth coming Motu Proprio… I like Jenifer am a convert (also from 1999) to the Catholic Church so my experience is very limited. I have been to a Latin mass before and I found it to be beautiful however, I do not think I would ever want to attend that mass all the time. I like hearing the prayers in my native language. It is nice to hear the language of the Church though as it stirs up a real sense of reverence and a feeling that something bigger than I is going on.
I pray this will help to unite the faithful as there are so many Catholics who have struggled with the Novus Ordo. I think the thing to remember is yes, the Latin Rite mass is very old and is/was a big part of the Church in time and tradition… however, the mass was simply not said in Latin, as a norm, in the first centuries of the Church. So saying mass in the vernacular is historical. Latin is beautiful and we should experience this mass more often… but, praying to God (which the mass is the highest form of prayer) from our heart and in our tongue is even better.
Just my thoughts…
God Bless

For me, the issue is not the Latin so much as the actual text of the Tridentine Mass. The emphasis is more on the sacrifice and the altar rather than the community and the table. There is a much greater emphasis on the Trinity and Mary as well. There’s a majestic nature about this mass. Those of you who have not experienced a Tridentine mass should read this website where the text is available: http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/latinmass2.html
I am not against the Novus Ordo. I am 51 so obviously the bulk of my life I have experienced the Novus Ordo. But when I picked up my grandmother’s missal and read the Tridentine Mass and saw the difference I was blown away. I think the fact that I have attended Divine Liturgy in the Eastern Rite (Melkite Catholic, my husband is studying for the diaconate in that church - they, by the way, are in union with Rome) has had an influence as this mass has the same flavor as the Tridentine.
Granted, the Tridentine mass celebrated poorly can be very cold and offputting. You can feel totally left out. The Novus Ordo celebrated poorly has its own issues. Obviously any mass should be celebrated well and with reverence.
But this text is well worth reading.
On Hooplah, wasn’t there one of the 1980s video games where the characters said: “Hooplah!” when they did certain high-scoring things?
On Latin: I very much support Latin in the current rite of the Mass (especially in multilingual parishes), and while I don’t oppose wider use of the Tridentine Rite, I prefer the current calendar and schedule of readings, because it goes deeper into more Scripture, especially the Old Testament!
But I think restricting the older rite has fostered a great deal more divisiveness and victim mentality than permitting it could do.
Hi guys,
Last Saturday, I actually bought my son a lawn mower! Now he can help me get the yard work done. Get the chores going.
Hello Again,
I thought I would share Michael Barber’s blog about the Pope’s Motu Proprio … I love the point he makes about the Old Testament references to facing east…. fantastic stuff… check it out.
