DB#335 - Bionic Power

In this show: a BIG thank you for all the feedback, testimonies and encouragements! It shows me that YOU CARE for what we try to do at SQPN, and it means a lot to me. Changing habits: turning back the hands of time; an update on my bookwriting efforts; an unexpected decision by my bishop; a surprising call and proposition; prayer request for our upcoming SQPN board meeting; meet Greg, Jennifer, Paul Camarata, Fr. Bill and me next Monday in Conyers! The return of the Bionic Woman; Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han Solo.

Fr. Rod,
Another excellent show!
Rest assured that all the efforts that you and the others producing shows put into The Daily Breakfast and other SQPN programs do make a “positive difference!”
From day 1 of The Catholic Insider & The Daily Breakfast it was the rich variety of content and the enthusiastic humorous way you present it that built your audience. That made them very unique when unlike most of the other religious programming, which seemed almost like hearing/watching paint dry.
There is some big principles involved in communication that hard core snob critics forget/ignore -
You have to be able to hold an audiences attention and from my experience you definitely have been able to do that.
Many would also say that you should have some entertainment value in there so your listeners feel that the time they spend is well worth it. I feel you do that by the way you present the material and all the layers of rich audio content(this includes all the sound bites).
Last but not least is Humor. I will leave it to the great humorist and author Mark Twain to comment on its importance in communication:
“The shortest form of communication is humor”
- Mark Twain
God Bless and Speed all the best of your programs,
Michael
P.S. - You don’t need to change a thing except f it is by your own feeling of a natural & gradually program evolution
Father,
you have made me so curious about your book, I can’t tell you.
Could you maybe publish just a very brief excerpt somewhere. Just to get an idea what it’s gonna be like.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
Fr. Roderick -
Thank you so much for all that you provide your listeners and the Church though your podcasts. You are a blessing to us all!
One thing I have come to understand through ministry is when I get negative feedback for doing God’s work, especially when it’s ungrounded or a personal attack, I am on the right track, and Satan’s just trying to attack through spiritual warfare. I also find that this usually happens right before a really huge blessing, perhaps at your next Board of Directors meeting in a few days!?!
God bless you and St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle!!
Fr. Roderick,
Don’t you change a thing! You are so interesting and funny. The Daily Breakfast is a fabulous show. I love it and so do my kids and it’s rare to find something that interests all of us. In thanksgiving for all you do, I just made a donation to SQPN.
We love you, the Church, Harry Potter, AND SMOOTHIES!
I was wondering where I can look at Santa Cucina episodes? I can’t seem to find it.
Roderick will be presenting showtime with Albert Verlinden, you read it here first !
Just kidding ;). Will be interesting to see what that tv show will be !
Cassandra,
Santa Cucina can be found here: http://www.sqpn.com/?cat=37
I’m hoping it will soon be available as a video podcast so I can watch it on my iPod and Apple TV!
Man, I wish I lived closer to Conyers! Have a safe, productive and enjoyable trip, Fr. Roderick.
Fabulous! I just arrived in Atlanta for a visit with my family. I will definitely plan on coming to the SQPN party–but I don’t see the link to the directions.

Look forward to meeting you! Who else will be attending?
WOW! Conyers, Georgia actually exists and it is not a figment of our collective electronic imagination!
Congratulations Greg and Jennifer on completing 6 video episodes! I know from personal experience how much of a job and how long it takes with all the many elements for Preproduction through Production then Postproduction each of these episodes takes.
You have certainly demonstrated your tenacity, patience and great willingness to learn & improve along the way. I wish I could contribute but I’m way way up north by Chicago for now.
Keep up the good work and may God speed you on to the best of your efforts,
Michael
