  1. Herzlich willkommen in Europa, Pater Seraphim! :)

  2. Concerning the “English” STOP sign in Austria:
You can say “stop” in German, too. The word exists also in German. The spelling has changed in our ridiculous spelling reform some years ago: now, you have to spell it “stopp” instead of “stop”. On the other hand, you are totally right, according to Wikipedia, Germany, for example, has adopted the English sign in 1971. But I never thought about it as an English word. It’s funny. I did not know that. :)

It was very interesting to listen to your experiences and views about the “daily life” in Europe and how you as a person from the U.S. are wondering about things that are perfectly normal to us Europeans like the recycling thing.

    Welcome to Europe!

And I am glad that your old friend will be fine and that you all got into contact with each other once again after a long time. God is among us and he is always helping and watching us, there is nothing else I could say about that special story you shared with us.

  3. Herzlich willkommen!!
It is good to have you here, Father. I think we may soon be ready to open the Central Europe branch of SQPN! :-) I pray that you would have a blessed semester. See you at Mass!

  4. Hi!
Good to hear someone else is on the move too. I just got from Irondale to Vienna, and am still feeling the time difference. I have not been here for a long time, but am looking forward to discover Austria over the next month. I also got tickets for the Mass in the Basilica with Pope Benedict and also in Vienna at st. Stephens, and together with my brothers for the Vespa with the Pope, I am so excited. So where is Gaming? Is it anywhere near Vienna? I also plan to visit some Capuchins in Vienna, and also the franciscan province in Tyrol, which is the main reason of my visit.

Thanks for the great shows and the work you put into the Podcast.

  5. As one of the priests here tells the students – life here in Austria when compared with the United States is neither better nor worse, just different. Though, I expect when I finally get back the the US I’ll be wondering why things aren’t more like the are in Austria.

As for Gaming’s location – it’s about 2 hours west of Vienna, close to the city of Scheibs.

  6. About the location:

It is about 40 min or 37 km away from Mariazell, the place of pilgrimage that celebrated today its 850 years of existance together with the pope.

  7. I love hearing you noticing the differences between the US and Europe — I moved to France some years ago and remember having the same reactions . . . by the way, the stop signs in France all say “stop” too!
Soon all this will be normal for you, and yes, you may well miss some of these details when you move back home — if you ever do! Enjoy!
