  1. Very good show again! Well done both. (Although I have to confess that I like the bloopers very much! :D)

  2. Great job once again! Every episode I get more impressed with the care and hard work that you are doing.

  3. Great job guys!! Jennifer, you look fantastic - I hope you’re feeling well. I would love a behind the scenes about how you filmed that bike scene - very smooth. Thank you for your faithfilled handling of this important topic. I can’t wait to share this episode with my family and with the teachers at my boys’ elementary school. I also put these on our parish web site since I’m the parish webmaster. Great job Greg and Jennifer!! Lisa, CatholicMom.com

  4. KUDZU!!!! Er, I mean . . . wait . . . KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome job once again Greg and Jennifer.

  6. Is riding your bike backwards against the arrows confessable as a venial sin? Was that done on purpose? if so I thought it was very effective.

    -Bob

  7. @Bob… actually Greg just thought it looked interesting, we were paying no attention to direction since we were in the church parking lot at that point. Now if it was a real public road, we would have “behaved” :)

  8. @Jennifer - Actually, that’s not entirely true. I liked the fact that you were going in the opposite direction of the arrows, as a direct correlation to not doing what you’re supposed to (i.e., sinning). But sometimes I just tell you which way to go without explaining what’s in my head :)

  9. Once again WELL DONE. You guys just get better and better! Thank you so very much!
    Karen

  10. @Greg and Jennifer. Was that in the script? I don’t think that was in the script.

    Just sayin’.

    love,
Maria (who thinks it’s amazingly funny that you are writing to each other here)

  11. @Maria -

No, it wasn’t in the script, but when we got to the parking lot and I was looking for shots, it just made sense. At least, I liked it! :D

  12. I know! I was just joshing with you guys! But it is a very clever little symbolic nod to sin. Nice touch.

  13. Great job! I liked the animation where the word “Community” went by horizontally and “God” came up vertically. It was as if they were forming the cross. Also, nifty shot through the confessional grate! ConscienceJennifer was an interesting idea, but a bit eerie as well. Was the eeriness intentional? I like how Jennifer walked up the aisle of the church in her biking clothes, as if to say we don’t come to Confession looking our “Sunday best.” We leave that way. Finally, props to the bad cop at the beginning. He absolutely looked the part of a 1940s detective.

  14. G’Day Greg and Jennifer
Jennifer, with a sore knee and no doubt morning sickness you ride a bike, sweep the floor and walk down the isle effortlessly. Is there anything you cant do?
You looked gorgeous as an Angel.
Greg, how come Jennifer does all the camera work and you hide behind the sceens?? Can we see you up front next episode??
Just some feedback on the 83MB mp4 download. It did not well at all. I am not sure if it is my PC but I had to resort the website stream to watch the episode as the mp4 stopped and started and the sound cut in and out using iTunes. I tried real player and that played the sound but not the picture. Media Player did not work at all. Not sure what is going on but perhaps others have had the same experience.
Oh well. God bless you and your family all the way from Sydney Australia.

  15. Awesome fantastic - these just keep getting better and better! Great music too.

  16. Great job guys. I’m going to have to go to confession about envy!

  17. @ Greg - So does this mean that you are complicit in Jennifer’s disregard of fundamental traffic laws?

  18. I emailed the link last night. First time I did that. I sent it to a friend who regularly asks me why Catholics go to confession. Hopefully she’ll understand. :)

  19. Just wanted to say that I LURVE the intro! Great stuff! Am gonna send it out to my RCIA group!

  20. The dancing skeleton in the closet and going the opposite direction of the road’s arrows just before entering the church - BRILLIANT. It’s the little things like that which make the series so excellent.

  21. Just curious, how do you have these great shows play on a Sony PSP? I subscribed to the RSS feed through SQPN. I was able to view the other video shows on SQPN on my PSP except for this cool series. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.

  22. Whoa. Never mind I ended up using Sony Media Manager to convert the file to work on a PSP. This is awesome! All of the videos on SQPN are so cool!

  23. I agree that it is the little details which make this show exceptional. In this episode, I thought the background music added a lot: it was both happy and calming music: PERFECT for accompanying this topic! The skeleton, the arrows, the vertical relationship and the horizontal one, also the comparison between getting in shape physically (biking) and spiritually (confession) — all well-chosen and thought-provoking: you guys do every aspect of this show so impressively! (you too, Maria!) Thanks for everything!

  24. I love this show. God bless you and your work.

  25. I saw Fr. Roderick on EWTN and thought I’d wonder onto the sight. I think your shows are great. They’re accessible, humorous, thought provoking, intelligent, and shares the truth of our church without being preachy. I hope you do an episode on the sacrament of marriage soon. But, whatever topic you pick, I think it will be great. May God continue to bless you.

  26. oh my goodness! i loooooooooooooove your show!! stopped about 8 months ago with listening to daily breakfast and just have begun again (going further where i stopped, am now in end of januari, whaha)but because of listening, wanted to check out the sqpn.com out again, and wow, you guys really made progress!! lot of extra shows and even film! and this show is just so great!! i think i will send a link to a lot of people! ;) hope you can make a lot more!! my prayers go to you and your work!
greetings from Holland, the country of father Roderick ;)

  27. Love “That Catholic Show”…I even bought the T-shirt! So WHEN is the DVD coming out? I want to show it to our CYO. Thanks!

  28. Awesome. This is the first “That Catholic Show” I have seen. I can’t help making a suggestion. Please throw in a couple of relevant scripture references in particular to help non-Catholics who assume this is all “traditions of men.” Certainly for confession we have some great verses to back us up - notably John 20:21-23.

    Thanks again!

  29. You guys are amazing !!!! your video cast is helping me a lot in rediscovering my catholic faith, you even made me feel guilty for not going to confess in more than one year …. thank you, sincerely thank you.

  30. Hey, I was just wondering what you all shoot on? It looks great! How long does it take you to put an episode together? It might be cool to do a “behind the scenes” of That Catholic Show one day! I am a film student at The University of Tulsa (I’m also one of the On The U guys http://www.ontheu.com) You all do a wonderful job putting these together. I was just curious, because we have thought about doing a video podcasts here and there. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  31. @Pat -

Thanks for the kind words. We’d like to do a behind the scenes one of these days, but it would require a second camera, which we can’t afford quite yet.

For now, I shoot on a Sony HDR-HC7 with external levalier mics from Sennheiser. I edit in Final Cut Pro.

From beginning to end, a 5-7 minute episode of TCS usually takes us about 40 or more hours.

  32. Dear Jennifer and Greg,

God bless you for your wonderful works in presenting our Catholic faith. I would like to ask where i can order a CD of your episodes. I would like to show it to my students. Thanks and continue this wonderful and creative ministry of explaining the richness of our faith.

  33. Are there any more of these coming? They were very interesting and well done.

  34. Hi Paul,

We’re on a hiatus right now during the annual giving campaigns for Rosary Army and SQPN. If we meet our Giving Campaign goals for each apostolate, there will definitely be more episodes of That Catholic Show in 2008! In fact, we already have scripts for more episodes, and almost the entire second series has been planned out.

Prayers for this project and the two separate giving campaigns (since both apostolates help finance this production) would be appreciated!

  35. I LOVE THAT CATHOLIC SHOW! If I could figure out how, I would put it on my blogs. Very high quality camera work, on camera personality is totally professional, and of course– the apologetics are just what the (Church) doctors ordered. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!

  36. I think it will be a good idea for you guys to put somewhere at the site when the next episode is expected, not just now, but every time, it will help you to keep your audience alive and let them come back!

like: Expected in January 2008: I do, the secrets of marriage (or whatever)(might add some picture to it)

it makes people curious about the next episode and know when they have to return and that there will be more episodes to come back for

    good luck!

  37. @ Rebecca: thats actually very easy, make assure that it is possible for you to add html-code to your blog (if it is not already possible, there must be an option for it)
click on the video you want to add so that you come at the actual YouTube page, copy the embed code at the right side of the video and add that to your blogg, the video should appear. embed code for this video:

  38. I’m very happy to read that this gap in production is a mere hiatus, and will hope and pray for your fundraising campaign to come through for you.

Just as a technical note, I hope you don’t mind but I used a commercial software to convert the MP4 files into a DVD copy of all the TCS episodes for Sister Maria, our parish’s Adult Education director, to review. (Don’t worry, I’m not making umpteen copies and selling them on the black market or anything like that. :-) ) She was very complimentary of the series, and I am certain that she would be interested in obtaining a “real” copy for the parish to officially put in the video library.

All of which is a roundabout way of asking when or if DVD copies will be available …

  39. This was my first show I watched. Loved it and then bought the CD for use by me and my wife for our CCD classes.

    God Bless your ministry.

    Don M
