I don’t recall anything like that when we were there (2001); that’s unfortunate. I recall it as fairly tasteful, though of course I don’t have a picture to refresh my memory.

Durham is a lovely town, well worth the trip.

@Hans: I did pray at the grave of St. Bede, but I was a bit annoyed that the rest of the chapel where he was buried had been turned into what looked like an exposition room. Not very fitting for such an important figure in Church history.

@Jennifer: I didn’t notice it, but I’m sure it was caused by the fact that I had just talked with this English chaplain for 20 minutes or so. I always switch to a more British accent when I do that, and I probably forgot to ’switch back’ for the recording of the last part of the video.

I loved how Father’s accent suddenly got more English sounding the longer he strolled through the charming town. Was that intentional or did you not even notice your accent changing? Great work!

Fr. R. It's too bad that you weren't able to film in the cathedral, because then you might have noticed that buried near St. Cuthbert is St. Bede the Venerable, the Venerable Bede, one of only 33 Doctors of the Church.

Hi Fr. Joe, There is a plan to release That Catholic Show on dvd, with some extras as I understand it. You will probably see an announcement here, or you can listen to The Rosary Army (found at the front page of SQPN) by Greg and Jennifer, who also put together TCS; they sometimes discuss their plans for it (among many other things).

Dear That Catholic Show,
You guys are great! I found you in my i-tunes just browsing around. I have down loaded all you shows and I plan to use them here with my CCD program, I want to know if we could buy or donate these shows on DVD. It would easier for us to use in a classroom setting.
