SaintCast Podcast Features Interview With Postulator for Sainthood of Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa

Overland Park, Kansas – The Internet’s only podcast dedicated to saints has released an interview featuring Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, the postulator for Mother Teresa’s sainthood cause, and the author of a new book about Mother Teresa, “Come Be My Light.”

Hosted by Dr. Paul Camarata, a neurosurgeon from the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, the SaintCast is a twice-weekly audio podcast in MP3 format devoted to the lives of the saints and their place within the Catholic Church.

With the release of Fr. Kolodiejchuk’s book about Mother Teresa, recent media reports from a number of news outlets have been painting her in a rather negative light.

“”I knew that the secular media has really had a hard time explaining the darkness that Mother Teresa experienced,” says Dr. Camarata. “Her detractors sometimes imply that her outward disposition was all a sham. With this episode of the SaintCast, I wanted to get Fr. Brian’s take on this media reaction and to explain that despite this spiritual darkness, she actually felt graced by this profound sense of helplessness.”

In the interview with Dr. Camarata, Fr. Kolodiejchuk clarifies many secular misunderstandings of Mother Teresa’s spirituality.

“Once she understood that this darkness is part of the spiritual side
of her work, then she said, ‘I’ve even come to love the darkness,
because Jesus can’t go through this anymore, but He can undergo it in me,’” states Fr. Kolodiejchuk.

  1. I did not say this very often during the last months… Because I did it too often, I think…

Keep it up! You are doing a wonderful job. It is just amazing.

    All of you!

It is a huge encouragement. Right now in Germany there is the annual gathering of our bishops. We have our child abuse scandal (a priest molested little boys and the bishop failed to stop him, the priest was moved to another parish and he did it again)… The media is all over the church. Criticism about some bishops allegedly trying to cover up what has happened. Criticism among the bishops, too (I am happy with that, because it is important that CRIMES (!) like that lead to consequences). Only bad stuff about the church. Nothing about our faith.

You and your podcasts and this community over here are helping so much. :) Thank you!

  2. My cousin who works for the LA Times was fortunate enough to travel to India in 1992 and asked for permission to follow Mother Theresa around for a few days and take photos of her at prayer and meditation. I think he attended mass with her as well. He always counted himself lucky to have meet “a living saint” and those pictures of some of his most treasured. Theresa was fairly demanding of my cousin and would not grant him permission to follow her around until he wrote her a letter stating his purpose for doing it. I’ll send him the link to your wonderful podcast.
    Thank You!
