I wish i was on NY… i’ll be there on December for a week visiting my GF
I hope that you are having a great visit over there. I, like Greg Willits, hate, well not hate, i mean, dislike big cities.. i like small towns, yet i live in a big one (Houston, TX), but there are certain thing in NYC that i love (besides the fact the my GF lives there
) like i said i hope you have a great visit over there.
Kindly,
Rafael.
I loved your reviews of the television shows. I caught “Pushing Daisies” on Wednesday, and have to admit that I am hooked already. It’s quirky and intriguing, and since I am drawn to black comedies, find the show’s premise delightful! You spoke about it on a previous podcast, and it promises to be entertaining. I hope you can check it out.
I’m loving these “flying by the seat of your pants” episodes. Enjoy what’s left of your trip and I hope to catch you “live” in the future.
Had a chance to see you on ‘Life On The Rock’. This brought me to your site. Congratulations on your success and fresh approach in bringing today’s communication technology & the faith together. I think this is wonderful.
Did you ever find a Starbucks?
Sounds like you’re having a great time in NYC, Fr. Roderick… I’m curious to hear what you thought about your first taste of Starbucks. Personally, I am not a fan of their coffee, but I believe a true cappuccino or espresso in the European tradition is more like a work of art rather than a product of mass marketing, so maybe I am a little biased.
Also, that strange motorcycle/car you saw is indeed called a T-Rex, and they’re built near where I live, in Montreal, Canada. They’re kind of like road-legal Formula 1 cars, but built from a motorcycle engine and a tubular frame. If you’re ever offered the chance to be taken around a race track in one, I highly recommend the experience. There’s more here if you’re interested: http://www.go-t-rex.com
I am in no way affiliated with the company, I just think they’re cool.
Hi Father,
I watched the SQPN mass video on the front page and just finished watching iPadre’s ustream. I’m totally ignorant about what’s happening and why people do their things, so I thought I ask the Peculiar Bunch for help with my questions.
Does Mass go according to a fixed schedule or programme?
)
How do catholics know when they can reply on something the priest says?
What’s exactly ‘Adoration’ and what does a Catholic do in Church when it’s Adoration? What makes it special (hmm… that’s three questions
Why do people kiss the cloth when the priest is walking around with the monstrance?
Is there a fixed routine for the priest at the altar? Why do they bow at the front and kneel at the back? When they do the latter, the people in Church can’t see the priest anymore! What’s the purpose of it?
Well, they didn’t fit really into today’s podcast and I hope I don’t interfere in the current conversation, but these questions popped up and I was just too curious not to ask them.
Thanks a lot for all the podcasts, Fr.!
Have a nice time over there, hope you make it safely back here!
I just heard about your website so I decided to look around. This made me laugh.I love when you were talking about heros that was funny, and I totally agree with you about the sirens in Rome. I had the opportunity to spend some time in Italy last summer and I found them noisy. your awesome!
Fr. Roderick:
So, you got yourself the iPod touch 16 GB… Hm…
I am eager to hear what you think about this new device. Especially about the screen. I am a bit hesitant because of some of the bad reports on the internet (ok, there are always bad reports on any device, I think). Here in Europe (or should I say Germany?) it is still not available yet. It is sort of being listed as being available, but apparently Apple does not put out enough units to supply the dealers over here…
Well, patience is needed, I think.
Have a great stay and I am looking forward to the next “chapter” of your New York special episodes!
@ Taquoriaan:
I like them! I think you will like the answers, too, if they are being answered on the Daily Breakfast.
Wow, the peculiar bunch segment could be filled for weeks with answering your questions.
You are such a tourist in NY ! Since NY is where I grew up, I love hearing it from an “outsider”. Hope you had a good time.
Loved your soundseeing in New York. It felt like I was there, too. I think the best coffee is here in New Orleans. We put something called chicory in with the coffee. I also liked hearing the orchestra. I think you will like your iPod touch. I just received an iPhone for my birthday and am loving it. Now my husband wants one for Christmas. I’m glad you had a good trip to the states.
Hi Fr. Roderick:
I see you enjoyed or are enjoying NYC, I was there about 3 months ago… I wish i could have extended my vacations for 3 months… haha. Well I only wanted to tell you that the R2-D2 mailboxes are cool, I have a photo with one of them!
Thanks for everything
JP

Gee Father,
I was actually in New York at the same time that you were there. My annual conference for the association that I belong to was in a hotel right in Times Square. Sorry I missed you but at least I had the blessing to be able to attend Sunday Mass at St. Pats.
I listen to the Podcast almost every morning during my commute to work at St. Joseph Health Services of RI.
Who knows, someday I might get the chance to meet you but you would have to come to Rhode Island. You would love my home state. It is absolutely gorgeous!
