Into The Deep #50: The Spiritual Combat - Ch. 24-26

Episode #50. Shhhhhhh! “I have often repented for having spoken, but never for remaining silent.” Do we love the sounds of our own voices? Give careful governance to our habits of speech. Be Counter-Cultural: be Quiet. So… when we say we want “peace”… do we want OUR peace, or His peace. Or do we want Him? We should aspire to the lofty heights of sainthood. Are we the prodigal son… or his older brother?

  1. I’m going back to the beginning of your podcasts for the episodes on prayer to meditate on during Advent. Then I will start again on The Spiritual Combat. I got sidetracked on that this year, but will make it a priority for the coming year. You guys ARE great!! Keep on doing God’s work!!

    Blessings,
    Brian

  2. Hi Brian,

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I’m so glad to hear that the podcasts have been useful to you. It’s very humbling.

Heh. Our goal for Advent is to make some headway on the book… so hopefully there will be some new stuff for you next year. :)

  3. Well, the beauty of this podcast thing is that we can go back, be behind, catch up… it’s not like a radio show where you miss it, it’s gone.

I read a lot for work, study, and leisure, and have developed the bad habit of reading EVERYTHING quickly, even Scripture and spiritual reading. Rereading the chapters of Spiritual Combat, and really mulling them over with y’all has been a great benefit.

Not that I want to encourage you to sloth :p But it’s not all bad.

  4. Naomi,
Just wait until we do a podcast commentary on St. Thomas’ Summa Theologiae! We expect that to take us 50 years or so… ;-)

  5. lol… What the life expectancy of a guy these days? 75 years or so? No way we’d get done with the Summa before then…
