SaintCast #81 - Family Soundseeing at St. Josaphat’s in Milwaukee
On today’s SaintCast we travel with the Camarata Clan to the Basilica of St. Josaphat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, getting lost along the docks on the way. A great week for Saint Feast Days with St. Juan Diego, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Lucy, and more! Tell us about your favorite saint, a favorite patron, or a favorite saintly tradition this Advent Season.

Been there, done that
I spent 5 years in Milwaukee going to school at Marquette University and had many opportunities to attend Mass at the Basilica. Wonderful place to be inspired. If you visit be sure to at least attend a tour and then travel over to Marquette’s campus to see the St. Joan of Arc Chapel, it is “to our [Marquette's] knowledge, the only medieval structure in the entire Western Hemisphere dedicated to its original purpose: Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.”
Paul,
As a life long resident of S.E. Wisconsin I got a chuckle out of your tour of Milwaukee. Next time plan your visit to the Milwaukee (Algonquin for “meeting Place by the water”) around festa Italiana (http://www.festaitaliana.com/). There are a number of beautiful Catholic churches besides the minor Bascilca of St Josaphat. There is the Cathedral of St John (www.stjohncathedral.org), a few blocks away Old St Mary’s Church, Joan of Arc Chapel and Gesu Church both on the Marquette University campus.

Loved the trek to find the Basilica! Thanks for sharing the sounds of your family too.
Just for clarification…
Lincoln Memorial Drive and Lincoln Avenue are two different streets in Milwaukee. The Camarata’s were traveling on Lincoln Memorial Drive which runs North/South. Lincoln Avenue runs East/West. The Basilica is on Lincoln Avenue, hence the “wild goose chase” to find the Basilica.
Paul, next time you are in Milwaukee you may want to get a compass?
Thanks for the great sound seeing tour!
