father, i am going to listen this one as soon as i could. What i wanna to say it that “Keeping working on this, and most of the SHP fans are longing for the next one”. and a late happy new year.
I think you may have forgotten the Salem Witches’ Academy, which is located in the US.
Like Fifer says, Jo Rowling wants to wirte an encyclopedia giving small pieces of backstory and telling of elements that were cut, and the writing of Harry Potter. She has said so many times that she doesn’t want to make a secual, or write the story of the next generation - the story she wanted to tell was Harry’s, not that of the wizarding world… I think it’s like she says her self: She won’t write another book from this univerce, but in weak moments that she might dream of it (just because she loved writing the septology).
All the backstory she can dream of, will come in the encyclopedia (or, the Scottish Book, as it shall be called after the PotterCast interview from Christmas 2007). “Will you wait 10 years for it?” she asks the PotterCast trio. And off course, they, as so many of us, will!
I just recently subscribed and found it facinating that someone looks into these things like I do. Unfortunately, it was cut off just when things were getting interesting. In response to the american wizards, I was going mention the Salem school, but that was covered. In the book “Quittich through the ages,” which was published for charity, Rowling mentions that American wizards play a different game called Quodpot in which they try to get a ball called the quod into a pot before it blows up. There are 11 players. It was interesting to see how even American sports are different, even in wizarding world.
I reloaded the podcast and just finished listening to the whole thing. It was awesome! I was facinated with the deeper meanings and symbols that were in some ways deeper than what I have looked into things. My only tools were my limited latin books, my HEL notes and the dictionary of saints (this book made me thinks Snape wasnt’ such a bad guy despite his reputation).
I thought it was interesting to see how the names of these characters show insight to the characters themselves. Remus Lupin was obvious, but Fineus was another. It made so much sense and further explained this character. With “little black one” it just further reiterates that he was part of the Black family. Again, excellent podcast. I will be sharing this with all my friends and family who are all HUGE Potter fans.
