I went on retreat this weekend and the book, The Better Part was offered there. I bought it and I love it! I was so thrilled to hear ya’ll talk about that book on the podcast.
I just googled ‘The Better Part’. There are two books with that title. I am sure you are talking about the one by Fr John Bartunek. The other one is by Thomas Keating. Make sure that if you get this book to get the correct one, get the one with over 1000 pages!!
Greg, our Christmas tree is still up. We can’t get up the energy to un-decorate it. Maybe on Super Bowl Sunday!!
I recently got done with the 4 volume ‘52′ trade paperback set. I love it!! I need to re-read it to get all the things that I missed, but I need to get some spiritual reading done first. But I love 52. I realized while I was reading the end of ‘52′ that I am going to turn 52 in about 7 or 8 weeks. Coincidence??!! Hhhhmmmm….
But I did come away with an appreciation of Animal Man. If I get money for my birthday I’m gonna order the 3 trade paperbacks!! (or maybe I’ll get ‘The Better Half’, we’ll see). But DC does rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oops, I meant The Better Part at the end of the previous post. My bad!!
Two must haves for Lent:
His Cross In Your Life
Seven Last Words of Jesus and Mary
I reread those every Lent.
I will watch Into Great Silence each Lent also. Great movie to help still the restless heart and train your focus on God.
Thank you, Mr. Khemraj - Your recommendations are top!
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPORTUNITY TO SAY TO YOU BOTH THAT I CAN NOT GET THE SONGS TO I LOVE PEAnut butter out of my head so much so I have just brought it on itunes. As a 31 and half year old it is making me equally as crazy as it did to Tommy your son on the utube clip. Maybe if you played it backwards it may say this song will induce craziness and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is helping me stay out of a blue patch I am suffering. So thank you for all that you do. I really think I should feature on the next episode of RAR.
Off to play it now. Can not resist and sing it too. It is 22.50pm in uk where I live so this may end up making my neighbour cross oh well it a cool song
ps. I love peanut butter too by the way
(the smooth kind.)
LOL @ Anne!

I hear ya! The Popple “I Love Peanut-Butter Sandwiches” song has been stuck in my head for ages now. It is indeed a crime that it has not been honored on a session of the R.A.R. The only cure for getting “Peanut-Butter” out of your head (and I admit, it’s only temporary) is to listen to several episodes of “Ask A Ninja” back to back. Then THAT theme song is stuck in your head. But eventually, “PB” returns…
PS. I’m 46 and both my 17-year-old son and I are hopeless “PB” fans!
Thanks, Greg & Jen, for your recommendation of “The Better Half.” I looked into the book and found many real and virtual folks who give it two thumbs up as a prayer resource (I read a note from one priest who said if he could have 3 books on the proverbial desert island, he’d have the Bible, the Catechism, and The Better Half). I then, of course, sought to order it and found it’s pretty much out of stock everywhere! I did find a place that looks just great — http://www.ourcatholicstore.net, the web presence of a brick & mortar store in Kentucky USA — who can get me the book, but they have to wait for the publisher to send ‘em a new batch on or about February 14th. I reckon I’ll practice patience until then… May God bless you and the whole RA & SQPN community with an awesome, faith-filled Lent.
Oh, goodness — It seems my comma made my link faulty. Apologies to all. Let’s try this again:
