Another awesome episode! Your interview with Fr. Martin was so interesting. On another note, I found Stephen Colbert’s Liturgical Dance on YouTube.

Great interview with Fr. Martin.
I also greatly enjoyed his book “Life with the Saints’ from his saints in the sock drawer on. He is a very talented writer and has some good insights on the life of the saints.
Though I do have a couple of caveats about his book. Nowhere does he make the distinction between canonized saints and those that you believe are in Heaven and ask their intercession for, so many of the people in the book are not Canonized saints.
One part that really annoyed me was when he wrote he was going to mentions some of his opinions in his book and was cautioned against them from, I believe, some of his superiors and so that out of obedience he did not discuss them. True obedience would have not be bring it up at all that he holds these contrary thoughts. Also on the subject of obedience he uses the examples of some saints whose opinions were discredited at the time and their views later accepted as almost a blanked excuse for dissidents. The objections to Saint Thomas Aquinas’ arguments by some of his peers is not the same thing as a condemnation from the Holy Office or what is now called the CDF.
I’m not picking on y’all, but, even though I know what you mean by it, I get SO ANNOYED by the phrase, “If Jesus were alive today…” Folks, JESUS IS ALIVE TODAY! That’s what our Christian faith is all about.
I know we mean, “If we could see Jesus walking around in our hometown today,” but when we don’t say it that way, we make it sound like Jesus is not alive in a real and bodily way.
Great episode! And I’m certainly impressed - a neurosurgeon, podcaster, ‘voice’, AND classical pianist as well! Would love to have heard your concerto, no matter what the critics might have said…
@Kim
Thanks for the compliments, but only you, my wife, and my mother, would have probably thought I did a decent job on that Mendelssohn!
LOL @ Dr. Paul!

I understand completely. You see, my son will be performing at the KY Center in Louisville this weekend with the All-State Symphonic Band (he plays horn), and no matter WHAT anyone else says, he’ll be perfect. No bias here!
I am “finally” getting around to listening to this episode. Great interview Dr. Paul.
