  1. Hello Father and all in the DB-verse:

It’s 9:30 am local time (1630 GMT, I think) and my Juice aggregator isn’t seeing DB 438. I can download it from the Today’s Show link, but Juice shows the last episode as 437. As the man says, “Does anybody know what’s going on?”

  2. Does it work now?

  3. Nice show, Fr.! It was neat to hear about your giving the Cardinal an iPod and touching to hear your comments about your interactions/history with him. Please do try to keep us in your prayers this Lent and we will do the same for you!
    Take care!
    Bonita

  4. Hello Fr. Roderick. Todays DB was outstanding. It was very heartwarming to here about you and the Cardinals visit and history. It was great to here about his excitement!

  5. This was one of the most touching Daily Breakfasts that you’ve ever done, and I’ve been listening from the very beginning. As grateful as you are for his guidance, I imagine that it must be enormously satisfying for the Cardinal to see how you have lived up to the promise that he saw in you all those years ago. My guess is that your continued respect and friendship will mean even more as he retires. For both of you this is one of those defining transitional moments in life.

On a not nearly so important note here are a couple of links to the new Star Wars Clone Warsmovie that will be out in August, I believe - not the same type of animation as the earlier two. This is all computer generated and looks really cool: http://starwars.com/video/view/623.html

This second link is a sneak peek:

  6. Your caller today gave some information about how Lent is now becoming a part of his congregation’s tradition. I have used a wonderful Lenten resource for several years now. It features a short biblical passage, a reflection, a Lenten question, a Lenten action and a prayer for ever day of Lent. This can be found at:

  7. Fr. Roderick, what a wonderful show! I’m only an occasional listener to DB, but when I saw the photo of your bishop I immediately downloaded this episode. I love older folks and I am totally in love with all our elderly religious, so this show really made my heart sing.

I’m sure your bishop is now one of your happiest listeners and most devoted fan. My prayers go out for him for an easy recovery from hip surgery and a pleasant move. Please keep us updated on how he’s doing.

Thank you for a fabulous show - one I’ll always remember.

  8. @maureen How Cool!! I am a huge Star Wars fan, but had not even heard of this project…. very exciting!

  9. The image for this day’s DB was priceless! The generosity, enthusiasm, comaraderie, and Faith truly shone through. So much so, I listened to this episode several in a row! This BD is another “keeper”.

  10. I really loved this one! Such a touching story. Thanks Father sharing this story.

  11. That was a really good episode! I could imagine my archbishop would react in the same positive way as the cardinal did!

  12. Hi, Fr.
I just started listening to DB 438 on my ferry ride home from work (I live across the water from Seattle, WA) and I’m pleasantly surprised to hear The Predicates’ Taco Bell song - AWESOME!

  13. Very good episode! Very nice to hear the story how Cardinal Simonis got his iPod. Even as someone who works with computers and programs them each day, I am still amazed how mp3players and such can be so small. Let alone someone in his seventies.

But, you “get rid of” books? I do hope you give them away to people who would like them or to some local library?

  14. Hi, Fr.
I just started listening to DB 438 on my ferry ride home from work last night (I live across the water from Seattle, WA) and I was pleasantly surprised to hear The Predicates’ Taco Bell song - AWESOME!

  15. Hi Fr Roderick,

Glad to hear that Cardinal Simonis finally got his I-pod. Let’s now hope that he learns to use it!

About I-pods automatically downloading podcasts: In the foreseable future, we will have devices that are able to pick podcasts right out of thin air. They will have a simple dial or up and down buttons so that you can choose what to listen to. Podcasters will start to podcast continually, 24/7, even in organised and commercial form. The devices for this will be available for home, car and even mobile use.

O, wait a minute, this is called radio!

By the way, are you going to Lourdes again this year?
