A tour of the new SQPN website and an explanation of the changes; Jumper and Lost: teleporting and time travel; luchtime is an illusion.

There’s a problem with a pretty black DOS screen? with a blinking cursor?? with a C: prompt??? Sacrilege!!!!!
Harumph. Must be a Mac Cultist.
Love the site. If the old DOS geeks among us can make the transition, the nay-sayers will come along, too.
Congratulations to the new website. I know that it was a lot of work. It is nice to see that you were able to implement static links. Google will be able to index your website much better now. And this will lead to even more visitors. I am sure about that.
I was quite tickled by the “archaeology” theme music you played with the feedback, Father. Nice touch
Wow Father, all this in one weekend … thats pretty impressive!!
Father Roderick,
First of all great job on the website! It’s magnitudes better than the previous website, and it’s one I’d check more often. I’d like to give you few suggestions that could make it better, and of course you are allowed to take them or leave them. First, add the datetime stamp to the news posts. Also, on the main page, I suggest moving the News and FAQ frames up above the Latest Video. I really like the flash players and the poll is cool too. Keep up the good work!
Father Roderick,
The website looks and feels - so far - much better than previous. A couple comments would be that the drop down menu font could be clearer and bolder, and that the the first poll is restrictive for me as I live in the Caribbean. So there is nothing for me to identify my home. South America is different enough from the Caribbean for me not to list there. Keep up the work.
change: hate it…….it’s like when my grandmother changed from the handboard to the new fangled wash bucket!……
she said: “what’s the big deal………just goes around and around.
How I long for those days (1960)……..
that coal burning stove provided warmth, water for tea (in case a visitor came by), the best toast…..
the faq, news, books, etc. bar is way too small to figure it out…
but, as the BIG R said: get used to it, it’s stickin around…..
and the racso goes to: for all those hours, 1 weekend…..
and all I did was travel from parish to parish covering parishes and preaching the Gospel….. I did listen to podcasts and prayed on the journey…..
it’s like comparing lent/easter…….. 40 days/50 days…..
which is harder to keep the spirit alive?
Keep up the good work, in a year we’ll all meet here and complain about the new changes (hey, it’s something to do for Lent!)…..or least a near-occasion…….
@frjimt: if you think that bar is too small, I’m curious with what browser you are visiting the website. It looks perfectly fine, with a normal font size in all my browsers (IE7, Safari, Firefox 2 and 3). IE6 is not supported by this theme - it’s time to upgrade (IE6 is very unsecure anyway).
well, i use ie7 and firefox and safari….
i’m just suggesting that if someone comes to the page, this, to my eye (now remember, i use a seeing eye dog [she's a great typist!]……it should be bigger/a different color…
but, it’s not site, when i hit the pope’s lottery!!!
HI Fr. Roderick, WOW what alot of work you have done for us I feel so bless! The new site is truely wonderful! I have been listening since the end of Dec 07 and find it is the first place I look everyday and never fail to find new and interesting things that are going on in the world.
I found this today after listening to IPadre and thought your other viewers/listeners would find interesting. Danielle Rose’s story it is truely inspiring to see a young girl of today going into the religious life! There is a blog written by one of her friends where you can learn lot about her and hear some of her songs
http://nicole-shirilla.blogspot.com/search/label/danielle%20rose
if you go to the end of this blog page you will see a message by Danielle that she gave to her friends before she left for her mission…it was so moving it brought me to tears as did all of her songs! I will be buying her music for sure!
Sorry for the long comment but I was so touched I just had to share it with you!
Thank You again Fr. for all your hard work! The Holy Spirit is definately moving in you!
God Bless,
Darlene in PEI Canada
Just a quick note to all who have ordered “stuff” from the SQPN Merchandise store. I am presently on a four-day trip (in Boston right now, at Starbucks (!) of all places, so I can get an internet connection), and will be heading out of town Thursday night for a Memorial Service in the San Francisco area. I return Sunday night, then leave again for five straight days of flying. So, what I’m trying to say is… if you ordered anything in the last few days, or the next week and a half coming, you’ll have to be patient. Sorry. I’m pretty much a “one-man-band” as far as this printing stuff goes!
Thanks for supporting the good Father and all of the other SQPN Podcasters out there! Trust me, they really do appreciate it!
Help! I don’t live anywhere!
Well actually I do. I live in New Zealand. But that doesn’t seem to be covered in the poll! Perhaps change ‘Australia’ to ‘Australasia’? That way all the hobbits here can vote too. I’m still getting used to the web site. I think I’ll be able to follow what’s going on better with the new site. Well done on all the work Fr.
God Bless
Frank
New Zealand!
WOW! awesome website do-over Fr.! At first I was like, “What! it changed!” Then I saw how easy you made it because i really had a hard time with the 2nd sqpn.
looks OK but can we have the date the podcast was posted, as we had before. instead of each podcast is today
many thanks
Fr. R. - love the website; looks are much improved! Your time & effort show. Question: what is the white bar for beneath the poll question choices? I wasn’t quite sure that I had submitted my answer as there was no “submit” tab to hit.
Yahoo! Finally some DB stuff to purchase!! Looking forward to ordering a mug & t-shirt together. What color(s) will the t-shirts be?
Keep up the great work! Peace & joy.
Not quite sure about the new layout, it’s kinda cramped with info and links. Maybe it’ll grow on me ;).
I really like the web overhaul! Very user friendly!!!
Hi! It’s going a few podcasts back but thanks so much for coming up with innovative ideas for Lenten almsgiving. Regarding your plan, I unfortunately didn’t keep good enough records to do the grocery shopping thing, but I decided that instead of buying prepared coffee (I don’t usually buy lattes, just regular coffee) at my favorite breakfast place, I would just buy some good beans on sale, make coffee at home and save the extra money I would’ve spent which is ~$62.00 over the 40 days of Lent for charity.

Hi Fr. Roderick — I’ve just had my iPod for about 3 weeks. I got a Shuffle last year and decided to move up — I have an iPod Classic 80GB. I am so now hooked on pod casts. I plug my iPod in as soon as I get home from work so its ready for the next day — so I’m one day behind on Breakfast. I’ve got iPadre, Catholic Under the Hood, and The SaintCast. I’m an SFO (Secular Franciscan) living in Atlanta, Georgia. I love the Sound Seeing tours in Italy. I’ve been a couple times in the last 4 years and the pod cast takes me there. I’ll be at the Eucharistic Congress in June. It is awesome! Pace Bene, Jan
@TJ: (and other people who like bigger fonts)
If you use Firefox, you can temporarily increase font size by pressing Ctrl-+; to reduce font size, Ctrl–; to return to the default, Ctrl-0 (that’s a zero).
I often use this for web site when I cannot clearly see the font, or when my eyes are tired at the end of the day.
Dear Fr. Roderick,
I love your new design of the website. It looks really great and it’s much easier to see what’s news in it. However, I do miss the shortcut subsription buttons through iTune for each show. You may want to make it really easy for people to subscribe the shows with iTune. When I looked at your new webpage, I discovered a podcast which I had not noticed before: Proverbs! However, when I tried to search for it in iTune, I couldn’t find it. How I wish you could include the shortcut subscription buttons of the different podcasts like before. But still, Father, I love your new webpage. It is really amazing.
Ada
Dear Father,
You mentioned that you would like this website to help build a community for your listeners. Would it be possible that you could help us find a way to get in touch with the SQPN fans in different parts of the world? I live in Asia and I certainly would love to get to know the SQPN fans who live in the same area.
Ada (HK)
We have asked the SQPN podcasters and affiliates to add those subscription links to each post. Give them some time to get used to the new system, we’ll get there!
