  1. Hi, Paul. Actually, the lady told “Eu sou a Imaculada Conceição” (in Portuguese) and not “Yo soy la Imaculada…” (in Spanish).
    From a Brazilian friend,
    Hugo

  2. Ops… Sorry! I was thinking about Fatima…

  3. Yes! The Saintcast is back! :) Thank you!

I listened to the first half on my commute this morning, the second half will accompany me on the way back in the evening!

  4. @Hugo

LOL. Actually, I found the following spelling for what apparently was the dialect spoken in her region of France, Bigourdan:

“Que soy era Immaculada Councepciou. . .”

  5. Hi Paul,

Your spelling is correct! It was this sentence that convinced the priest that the apparitions were real.
Bernadette spoke only dialect. Did you know that Bernadette was the first photographed saint?

  6. I enjoyed the entire program and especially the soundseeing at Notre Dame. It is a very special place to me although I never went to school there and I’ve only visited a couple of times.

It is special because for me it is part of my “Hoosier” history. The Diocese of Vincennes (now Indianapolis) included this area and it was the second bishop of Vincennes who asked for the establishment of the school. However, that bishop originally intended it to be located in the area of what is now Washington Indiana in the southern part of the state. This same bishop also brought Saint Theodora Guerin to Indiana. He was an extremely strong willed man and he battled with the Saint and Fr. Sorin and eventually resigned.

Notre Dame is also important because it is where Fr. Badin, the first priest ordained in the United States, is buried along with Fr. Benjamin Petit who ministered to the Pottawatomi Indians who lived in that area. They were forced from their land and evntually settled in your area of Kansas, Dr. Paul.

We have saints all around us, living and dead. I am not too concerned about the comments on the Jim Martin episode about his (Fr. Martin) not distinguishing between the canonized and non-canonized. A saint is a saint is a saint… I can hold them all up to myself as models and the Church can hold “some” of them up as models for the whole Church.

Keep up the great work Paul!!!

  7. Dr. Camarata,

The saintcast brought life to my second-hand ipod. I tell any obliging listener about the awesome work the Holy Spirit and the saints are doing through you. You are making better people of God with the work you do. God bless your wonderful wife and children for supporting you. I am very moved to even have this opportunity to communicate with you. My wife is a physician, so given what I know about the schedules medical doctors have I am amazed you find the time for this. GOD BLESS YOU AND SQPN ABUNDANTLY.
It will be great if you can do a sightseeing tour of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, or Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Maryland.
Do you have subsribers in Africa?

  8. @Karl… I agree with your comments. I often hear Dr. Paul mention that it is late at night when he is recording.

If we’re going to suggest sound-seeing tours, how about the old cathedral in Baltimore and the “first” U.S. seminary–Saint Mary’s (Paca street and Roland Park). The home of Elizabeth Seton and the places Karl suggested. Mount St. Mary’s (and St. Mary’s Baltimore) were the home of Servant of God Simon Brute’ Mother Seton’s spiritual mentor.

I guess we’d have to set up a “travel fund” for these… !!

  9. @Karl and @Michael

No travel fund necessary . . I get around to medical meetings, etc. See this week’s podcast with Man-on-the-street interview from New Orleans.

I’d love to get to Maryland sometime soon - see SaintCasts #55 and #56 for SoundSeeing at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C.

  10. There’s a beautiful picture of Bernadette’s incorrupt body on the web, here:

One of the most inspiring things I’ve ever seen. I just loved Franz Werful’s book The Song of Bernadette and the movie came out on DVD recently.

    May God bless you all!
