Thank you for visiting my church and dscribing it so well. I am the lady who was performing the solo handbell ringing. There are demonstrations of solo handbell ringing throughout the summer months on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00 – 4.0. Sometimes another ringer joins me and we perform duets. About once a month, more ringers from the group also come along to do small ensemble ringing. Visitors tend to come and listen for a while, have a look at the bells,ask questions and then go for a walk beside the river. Anyone who is visiting Scotland really should make the effort to visit Dunkeld which is a lovely little village on the banks of the River Tay. It is in Perthshire which is a beautiful country with very varied scenery and many historical places to visit.
The ruined part of the Cathedral was once the nave and is now owned and maintained by Historic Scotland. The original choir of the Cathedral is the part seen in the video. It is used as the Parish Church. It is Church of Scotland (Presbyterian).

Nice episode… I always wondered if the Church existed… I only know of it through a Celtic song by Andy M. Stewart. I have provided a link to the Lyrics and a sample of the song… it is quite amusing….

…The Story goes………….. Finding the regime under the Church and it’s “fire and brimstone” minister far too rigid and strict for their tastes, the fun-loving inhabitants of this little Perthshire village got together one day–and hung him! They silenced the church bell and installed a large whisky-still in the church. Thus fortified and with McDonald their piper blasting away from the pulpit, their Sundays were transformed into a series of tremendous Ceilidhs.

@Mark: oops, mistake in the RSS. The 3 minutes of black are caused by an annoying bug in iMovie – I couldn’t get rid of it.
@Matthias: the morse code means nothing, it’s a sound effect from iMovie.
@Zack: when I look at the floor plan on the website of the cathedral (http://www.dunkeldcathedral.org.uk), I think that the nave is actually the destroyed part, and the current church used to be the ‘quire presbytery’.

Hi Father Roderick, as a Ham Radio operator I was just wondering whether or not the morse code letters in the intro and at the end of your videos have a special meaning or not. In the intro it begins with “3 a” then “0 3 w” (but I’m not sure about the “a”, the “a” sounds cropped, could also be letter “r”). At the end the letters are “h c 0 3 w”.

OK I guess now I have confused you. Sorry
Anyway great show. If I have time I could record the letters g o d s p e e d = –. — -.. … .–. . . -.. for you using my own morse key.
My CW (morse code) skills are a little bit rusty but it should work.

The episode is correct but it’s titled “Deep Fried Haggis”, and there’s over 3 minutes of black screen at the end on the file I downloaded… it doesn’t seem to be on the YouTube video though.
