Catholic New Media Celebration

On June 22, 2008, SQPN will host the first Catholic New Media Celebration. This festive event will be held in conjunction with the Eucharistic Congress that takes place the day before in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Catholic New Media Celebration is going to be an unprecedented event in the history of Catholic media.
Visit the official website for the Catholic New Media Celebration at http://celebration.sqpn.com
It will teach you, both as a media producer as well as simply someone who enjoys Catholic New Media, how to get involved in the exciting media revolution that is opening up so many new opportunities for the Church to spread the message of Jesus, the Bread of Life.
While we will be revealing more details about the program in the near future, here are already some reasons why you can’t afford to miss this day:
- It’s going to be big: it’s the biggest Catholic New Media event ever organized!
- It’s a celebration: there will be a lot of fun, some exciting surprises and great performances!
- It’s a reunion: meet all your friends, podcasters and fellow listeners that you’ve met online!
- It’s a training seminar: we will show you how you can make your own podcast, video, or even a live internet radio and television station!
- It’s Catholic: the Eucharist will be the heart of the celebration!
- It’s what the Pope encourages: “The new media – telecommunications and internet in particular – are changing the very face of communication; perhaps this is a valuable opportunity to reshape it!” - Pope Benedict XVI, message for the 42nd World Communications Day
The event will be FREE, easily accessible, and hotels and transportation are readily available.
Come to the Eucharistic Congress on Saturday and stay for the Catholic New Media Celebration on Sunday. It will be a weekend you will never forget!
We hope to bring together some 600 people, but we can only reach that goal if you help us. Help us spread the word about this event by telling your friends and family about it. We will keep you informed about the celebration on www.sqpn.com.

This is going to be great! I’ll definitely be there.
I can’t wait to hear more.
I hope to attend as well… Being in KY I had thought of going to the Steubenville event, only to discover once looking at the map that it is FARTHER from here to Steub than it is from here to Atlanta. I’m interested in the Eucharistic Congress as well, even if not a Catholic, so I’m looking forward to June!
I’m really looking forward to it!!!! I would also like to attend the Eucharistic Congress. Where do I find information about it, like costs and other requirements?
Thank you
Both the Eucharistic Congress and the Catholic New Media Celebration are free events. There will be a $5 parking charge for the CNMC, but it’s usually free for the Eucharistic Congress.
I published it on my blog and posted it to my Yahoo Group.
I’m planning to come. I live in Fayetteville, GA and come to the Eucharistic Congress every year. One extra day will be great! Since getting my iPod in February and discovering Catholic podcasts on iTunes, my days have not been the same. I work all day at a computer. At the end of my work day, I’ve listened to a a good 2 - 3 hrs of the latest podcasts.

Will material (including training seminars) be accessible online during or after the event, for those that cannot make the event but would find the material useful?

Hey Greg,
I was trying to get a quote for the Atlanta Marriot and the web site said that the group code was incorrect.
Deborah,
What group code were you using? We have not made any specific arrangements with them, but arrangements were made for attendees of the Eucharistic Congress.
WHen I hit the link for the Marriott hotel from the travel page on the Catholic New Media Conference site, the marriot page comes up with the group code airaira… so, I didn’t know if that was a special arrangement. If not, I’ll just book it the regular way. No biggie.
if the celebration would not fall right into the end of my thesis work I would consider to fly over to Atlanta for the event. I wish you all the best and many visitors from all across the US and maybe even Europe and other continents. For us Europeans it’s quite feasible to travel to the US nowadays because of the weak Dollar - even though it hurts the economy on the long run I hope the exchange rates stay at this level till next near when you hopefully celebrate the 2nd event and I might have time to join you! Good luck and best regards from Lake Constance, Germany.
