Thousands of Catholic Saints join SQPN

CONYERS, GA – April 15, 2008 – One of the Internet’s largest and most complete online resources on Catholic Saints has joined the Star Quest Production Network, home of some of the most popular audio and video podcasts available on the Internet.

Created and maintained for more than a decade by Terry Jones of western Kentucky, the website http://Saints.SQPN.com features information about more than 5400 Saints and Blesseds and their patronages.  The informational pages are highly referenced and cross-referenced with links to Internet references.

“I’m an adult convert to the faith,” says Jones, who created this resource as a personal knowledge quest.  “I realized that, unlike some cradle Catholics I knew, I had a lot of catching up to do.”  Before long the website grew from one page to twenty-six (one page for each letter of the alphabet), to now over twenty-two thousand pages.

In addition to searching by names, the list can be queried by patronage, diocese, country, or occupations.  “There aren’t too many charcoal-burners or whiteners around anymore, but there are patrons for these and many other occupations,”  says Jones.  This is a busy time of year for Jones, whose website is accessed literally thousands of times a day.  “I receive a lot of emails from children seeking saint names for the Sacrament of Confirmation every spring, and I try and point them in the right direction.”

Saints.SQPN.com joins the audio podcast The SaintCast as another educational resource on the Catholic saints from the Star Quest Production Network (SQPN.com), a multimedia organization specializing in the production of audio and video programs faithful to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Its mission is to respond to the Church’s call to use the media for religious information, for evangelization and catechesis and for formation and education.

SQPN (www.SQPN.com) produces on-demand audio and video programs, also known as podcasts, and offers a portal for a select number of affiliated Catholic podcasters that share the vision and media strategy of SQPN.

SQPN is also hosting a Catholic New Media Celebration on June 22, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia, the day after the Archdiocese’s annual Eucharistic Congress.

  1. Please suggest the patron saint of the United States Army Warrant Officer. They are the “keeper of the keys”, “technical experts” of the Army and known as the “rising eagles”. Can you help?
