Catholic:Under The Hood #151 - The Siege of the Moles

Since I’m studying German in Vienna, this week’s episode is about an important event in Viennese history when a seventy year old German officer faced the might of the Ottoman army.

  1. Thank-You Fr. Seraphim,

I had not heard this story before. Any lessons we should learn from this historical event?

  2. More history. Think that sums it up.

  3. Good one Terry.

Did Father Seraphim say 500,000 Ottomans marched on Vienna unopposed?

I’m thinking of Martin Niemoller’s famous poem. But maybe that’s not the lesson that Father Seraphim was offering.

  4. The lesson I learned from this podcast was that history is not as boring as I always thought it was! I really enjoyed listening to the tale of the Vienna siege of the moles!

    Thanks for the podcast!

    Janet
