  1. Hi fr. Roderick,

The idea of us being the one lost sheep is exactly the theme of C.S.lewis novel ‘Out of Silent Planet’, which is not so wellknown as the Narnia-chronicles, but still very good! Earth turnes out to be a strange silent planet, living without the connection to the Creator. Maybe you know it - if not, you might like it. The novel is part of a trilogy (a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_the_Silent_Planet”>see Wikipedia’s page).

    Yours,
    Boele P. Ytsma

  2. Fr. Roderick,

With all your talk lately about blogs and social networking, I wonder if you’ve heard of the new Dutch social networking site called Scoutle (www.scoutle.com)? It puts some really interesting automation into social networking. You can read about it on TechCrunch.

It’s in beta, but I signed up today and am giving it a try. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

  3. Hahaha! Yes, the bible did mention extraterrestrials! Alright, man!

  4. Several things on my plate today:

    1) Nice work with the website. It is getting better and better every single day! Awesome! :)

    2) Digg.com. To be honest: it does not work for me. I do not like Digg personally, because there is much stuff on there, I am not interested in at all. It is useless to me. Most of the content is on a very low level. I did not find anything interesting there and the comments are very bad. But I understand that it is a very good way to get SQPN out there. And so I dugg both of the articles mentioned on the show and I commented on the first one. There is a problem, though. Some of us did comment at digg.com telling the Digg “community” that it has been done by Fr. Roderick’s request. Well, this will not work very well as you can see by the reactions to those comments. Digg it, if you like the article and please comment referring to the article’s topic, if you post a comment…

    3) I do miss the Daily Breakfast with more topics than blogging and social networking. (I know, it will change… Sorry! :))

    4) The Willits and Fr. Roderick have both this scheduled ending in place after 26/27 minutes. I love long shows. If you don’t, it is ok, but please do not end shows, because Castblaster is telling you to do so. Do it, when the right time has come and YOU want to end the show.

Keep up the great work! :) This comment is meant to encourage you, even if it does not contain only the “good stuff”. All of you: have a nice day or night - wherever you are!

  5. Hi, Fr, I think you were working on this but the “slideshow” or the box at the top of the upper left hand corner at the SQPN home site still remains black (using Internet Explorer). There is often an “error on the page” message, too, even when the black box part had the pictures in it. (I apologize that I am not very computer savvy so forgive my untechnical language).
Re: Digg- I figured out how to enroll and digg your articles, etc.. and am happy to do so to support your efforts but that site is a bit difficult for non-techno’s like me.
As always, enjoy and appreciate all your efforts (and I am still trying to see if I can magically understand Dutch if I stare at the words in the Dutch blog long enough)! :-)

  6. Bonita, are you using Internet Explorer 7? Our theme doesn’t support IE6 anymore (nor should you for that matter ;) )

Or do you talk about FatherRoderick.com? That site still has some problems with Internet Explorer, caused by the Digg plugin. I’m working on it.

  7. Hi, yes, I am using Internet Explorer 7 and referring to the SQPN homepage. I don’t want to take up any more of your time but in case this is helpful, the error box says: “Line:1 Char.:1 Error: Object doesn’t support this property or method Code: 0 URL: http:// sqpn.com/” (sorry I am so un-geeky ;-)
    Thanks,
    Bonita

  8. One tip I can offer is blog posts in general should be as short if possible. Most people scan when they read online. So make sure your 1st paragraph really takes in your readers. Especially if you’re trying to reach the religion-haters who surely won’t read past the first paragraph.

Another tip is to use subheads and, when applicable, lists throughout your posts so it’s easier to read/scan articles.

A great website with excellent advice on blogging, increasing readership, etc. is http://www.copyblogger.com.

  9. Thanks Daniele. Now that I’ve written several books on line I’ll try to shorten my posts to sound bites. It will be tough. LOL.
