SBSG #2: A River Runs Through It

In this episode we talk a little bit about examining one’s mortality, the water imagery, and our last Cylon theory.
We forgot to mention that “Faith” is the first writing credit for Seamus Kevin Fahey. It’s a well written show. Good job Mr. Fahey.
The most recently aired episode as of this recording is “Faith”. Feel free to join the conversation in the comments section of the site!

  1. Something else to think about:
    -the final five are models 7, 9, 10, 11, 12
-lets assume that the four we know, since they were reveled together, are 9 thru 12
-that makes the last one #7
-in the Bible, 7 is the number for perfection
    -Agathon means perfect man
-Eve came after Adam and Sharon is #8
-Adam and Eve were the original parents
-Could Earth be Eden and Hera be Cain???

    Any thoughts???

  2. If you have six on one side, and six on the other, and Six in the middle…….

  3. Hi TrailRunnerEddie,

That’s a great point about numbers. I like the Agathon 7 / Sharon 8 theory.

Yes, I see that there is an Earth Eden connection that the writers will probably use.

I thought Michelle Forbes was Cain?
    :-P

I have more ideas, but I have to use them for upcoming shows!
    ;-)

  4. Hi Terry,

That is so funny about the 6 in the middle! I never thought of that.

Notice however, that there are not six people on one side. There is a TOTAL of 12 people - where should be 13! People have speculated that there is a person missing in the space behind the goblet. I believe the person missing is Judas who has already left that table and the person is… going to be revealed in a future show! ;-)

We are going to go into deep analysis of SciFi’s interactive picture. There is a lot of stuff in there.

  5. An odd bit of synchronicity - I’m listening to a whack-job podcast ’cause I love hearing folks talk about UFOs and alien abductions and government conspiracies with aliens who abduct people to UFOs. They’re talking crystal skulls because every book ever written on the topic is being reprinted to cash in on the Indy movie publicity.

One author mentioned an old legend recorded from a Cherokee medicine man - there are 13 crystal skulls, one here and one for each of the other 12 planets inhabited by humans. The things have massive amounts of information, and when brought together will provide the wisdom to save the world and our race. Maybe those guys knew that the Imperial Fleet was headed our way! ;-)

  6. Terry,
Then my theory is correct. We are all Cylons ;-)

  7. Another great episode! I really enjoy the show. I wanted to make sure you guys new about the Entertainment Weekly analysis of the “Last Supper” picture. Find it here. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20169703,00.html They questioned Ron Moore and he gave some interesting insight into the photo. He all but admits someone is missing from the table. Is the last Cylon not at the table? Thanks again for the show, I love it!

  8. Hi Brad,
Yes, oh, yes. We know about that article. In fact, we are going to go over the promo picture in detail. As for that blank spot… what Moore says when taken in context, is still very vague. He was just trying to dodge the journalist’s question; he didn’t definitively say it was the last cylon. Therefore, we have decided that it doesn’t affect our theory of Agathon.

I do have a theory that I shared with Jeff. The space is Judas who has left the table. Tory isn’t in the table. If you want to know why I think this… well, you will have to wait for a future episode.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  9. I find the question of the identity of the final Cylon boring. I also dislike the notion that a starchild is needed to save humanity. I am slightly interested in whether one of the colonial religions or the Cylon religion will be revealed as the true religion. Perhaps they will both be presented as inadequate.

In the original series humanity not only believed in God they were demonstrably aided by his Angels. These colonials are for the most part a physically and spiritually lost people. No one in this series is unequivocally inspired by God.

  10. I like your comment that these are a physically and a spiritually lost people. Now consider Roslin who is now choosing not to follow Starbuck. And listen to her conversation with Baltar in Escape Velocity, where i argue that she is losing her way morally. As I mentioned in SBSG #2, I believe Roslin is the physical embodiment of the human race right now.

What do you think of the fact that the only intact family that is featured right now is Athena, Agathon and Hera?

As for Angels… we go into that in a future episode. It will be very interesting. We also received some great voice feedback that leads into this point.

The Final Cylon. In my blog posting a while back, Jeff said that the last Cylon isn’t the real issue here, but it is a great way to promote a sci fi series. People love speculation, and the show has been well hyped in this respect. Yes, we believe the two of the bigger questions are 1) what/where/what state is Earth? 2) what is the Cylon god?

I could go on, but I would reveal all the material I have for other shows!

  11. What do you think of the fact that the only intact family that is featured right now is Athena, Agathon and Hera?

Adama and his son are a family.

To directly address your point, I think it is because the current season is poorly presented (written). Even if we are supposed to focus on a purported saviour’s family, other families occasionally be should be shown in the background. It’s hard to believe that none of the major characters have maintained or formed “successful” families.

  12. Hello Borellian,

First, I noticed a while ago that you had an active link that led me to an article about BSG and Mormonism. One of the reasons why I wanted to do this podcast was because of your article. You were one of my first research sites, and I am very happy you are joining this discussion.

Bill Adama was divorced from Zak and Lee’s mother, Carolanne. I am not saying that a single parent and child relationship can’t be successful. However, I still wouldn’t necessarily count them as an “intact” family.

I understand your point about how stories are presented and written. I am not sure I agree that other families “should” be shown if we are to focus on a certain family. It may be hard to believe that none of the major characters have maintained for formed successful families, and yet it still seems to be the case if you examine each major character’s story lines.
