I can’t believe your favorite beer is Sierra Nevada… SQPN needs a trip to Portland to try some Portland Micro Brew Beer. We have the most brewpubs per capita of any other city in the US.
http://www.portlandbeer.org/
Oh, but cation before purchasing… a lot of the microbrew companies in Portland support Planned Parenthood (Oregon is really liberal), which sucks. I actually wrote one of them to tell them what Planned Parenthood actually does and the CEO of the company wrote back to me and was not too nice. So, just be careful where your money is going
oops, yeah I actually wrote all that before I started listening. But yeah, a website ruined Black Butte Porter. But I wrote to the brewery and the CEO was not very nice to me and really got on me for judging him in his decisions about where he donates his money too. So, I unfortunately, yeah, my favorite beer is no longer drinkable.
Hi Greg,
no problem of not buying Sierra Nevada beer. I never did since in my humble opinion it’s not all that great anyway. Instead I prefer German beers - most likely because I’m from Germany! Fortunately there’s quite a selection available here in Silcon Valley.
Prost!
PS: I will think about sending them an email letting them know that I won’t buy their beer because of their support.
Thanks Stefan! I’m a sucker for a good pale ale, and theirs was always my favorite.
Why don’t you get an “always-on” (or “almost always-on”) Cloffice Cam? just like Fr. R?
Bob P.
Hi Bob - We ustream on occasion, but completely at our discretion. Because the Cloffice is also our closet, and we change clothes in there, and it’s right next to our bedroom and bathroom, and we still need our privacy, a regularly accessible camera won’t be happening for us. And I would find an almost always-on camera incredibly distracting while I work. I can’t stand having people look over my shoulder while I work. I can’t imagine how distracted I’d get with a bunch of people watching me online.
Cool, makes total sense. I wonder how Fr. R does it?
Bob P.
Hi Greg,
I love Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as well. I wrote them a letter in protest and will join you in your ban on their products. I need someone to provide a suitable substitute or I may have to brew my own beer. Keep up the great work and God bless you.
John
Hi guys. I’m totally with you on an occasional beer treat. Here in South Alabama the heat and humidity are even more intense and nothing goes down on a hot summer day like an ice cold pilsner or pale ale. I’ve never been big on having more than one though. The second never tastes as good as the first. (I’m with you on the hair issue too Jennifer. Southern women don’t have big hair by choice.) I will definitely send a letter to Sierra Nevada regarding their sponsorship. I hate that I’m going to miss the CNMC. I am going to be working an Engaged Encounter retreat that weekend. If you can manage to squeeze in a prayer for our couples that weekend, we would certainly appreciate it, but I know you guys are going to be totally swamped. God Bless!!!
I too was enraged by Sam Adams and e-mailed Jim Koch. I received back a nice response and apology (probably canned) that I couldn’t find in my saved mail anymore. Anyway, it was only this year that I started drinking Sam Adams again.
Here’s an article re: the apology - http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3469/is_35_53/ai_91661094

Greg,
If we are able to connect in Atlanta, I would like to buy you and Jennifer one of my favorite beers…Smithwick’s. It’s actually an ale, but I enjoy it. If we aren’t able to connect, I’ll find a six pack at the local grocery to leave behind so you can try it.
I’m hoping that since it is from a good Catholic part of the world it is not supporting undesired organizations. If someone knows otherwise, let me know.

All this talk of fancy beers when you can get a Guiness any day of the week. Yum!
I bet we could fill this page talking about beers of the world. Smithwick’s is made by Guiness. But it is much lighter than Guiness.
I like an occasional porter or Guinness, but they’re still too heavy for me on a regular basis. Smithwick’s sounds very nice.
There is a local Atlanta brewery (Sweetwater) that makes a pretty good Pale Ale. If any of you are flying in on Delta, there is a Sweetwater Brewpub on the B Concourse (the Delta concourse) at the airport. You can get all of their beers on tap there. But Sweetwater makes a pretty good Pale Ale, too.
Jennifer,
Sympathies on the big hair issue.
Well, rats. I was trying to send you a URL. Obviously I am not so good at this New Media Stuff…
