The works of one person--whether they be good or bad works--have an effect on all of us; as St. Paul says, we are all one body. Please see Mark 9:14-29, where Christ says that the prayer and fasting of one person can even drive out demons in another person.

Thanks father but I allready did read it! :) And I do get what an indulgence is. But I don't get how to use it? Or how does somebody receive it? And if ít's given to one individual, how can you take it and use it for somebody else?

Linda, you might want to read my Dutch article about indulgences that describes more in detail what the requirements for an indulgence are: http://www.katholieknieuwsblad.nl/dagboek/index.php?file=roderick&id=179

Hey Father,
I didn't get anything from this episode! I don't get the whole indulgences talk. Because, do we get an indulgence (of a partial one)when we go to confession? And If that is so, if we get one, how can we use it for somebody else?
And when we didn't go to the World youth days, but we stayed home and did pray for the pilgrims, how do we get a partial indulgence? We can't just say like 'ok, i know i did it, so i now have a partial indulgence' right?!

And we never do know right, when somebody goes from purgatory into heaven? So we have to keep praying for them right?!

Like i said, i didn't get it ;) hihi. Maybe somebody here has some answers :)

God Bless

Father Roderick,

We have really enjoyed listening to the podcasts over the last week or so....they have been exceptional...we appreciate the Catholic flavor. Thank you for the great job you do each day.

We also saw the Fireproof movie in a private preview, thanks to Maximus Media...via the Catholic New Media Celebration. It was an excellent film and we agree 100% with Jason's call. We encourage everyone to see it opening weekend...September 26th. If the film has a strong opening..Sony will expand the film opening, if not the movie will be pulled.

We are very proud of Jennifer and Greg...no doubt you will be next !!

God Bless you.
