Normally you guys go into depth to find the core issue behind a story, you've done this many times when our Church is misrepresented by the press. You've also gone into depth on the issues of the Anglican church and its crisis. But your responses regarding this Texas school were, at best, superficial. You jokingly commented that they should have an armed policeman on duty. Obviously you didn't bother to look, but this school district is located in an area without any local police department. Further, the closest law enforcement is the county sheriff, fully 30 miles away. The school district has about 200 students, is very very rural, and a strained budget. The teachers are not being armed or trained at the school's expense. You imply that a police officer is acceptable, but dismiss a trained faculty member. Why? The faculty who may be allowed to have a gun will be trained in the same course as police officers and will undergo additional conflict resolution above the training level of police. Further, our Catechism states it is a grave duty to protect those who are in are care. Are you saying that our children are not in the care of the school? Please review CC 2263, 2264 and 2265.
