Great idea, Inga! If any group has been (unfortunately mostly negatively) stereotyped lately it has been priests!
Looking forward to the video, Fr.!
Best to all,
Bonita
Thank you Fr Roderick,
It’s my first week with your nice Podcast, keep up the good work!!
My idea for a viral catholic video, is to hear and see, people receiving the holy body of Christ, and all the priest are all saying in all languages of the world, “Corpus Christy” (Body of Christ, Lichaam van Jesus, Curpa di Cristo, Cuerpo di Christo, etc)
Showing the Universal Catholic Church. Perhaps starting with a computer screen where can make a choice for a language.
So long
Fr Roderick
I’m St. Francis of Assisi and I been made into a stereotype
– a bird bath, a bird feeder, a tree hugger, a Dr. Doolittle of animals.
I am so much more than that. Please get me out of the bird bath. Pax e bene.
@StFrancisGirl
The priest said this morning at Mass, “St. Francis is not a lawn ornament!”
Very attention-getting.
@Naomi
The friars at my parish say the same thing
I think the stereotype idea for the viral Catholic video could be a big hit. One of the reasons emails/video clips/chain mail, etc. get forwarded is they are relatable and/or funny. The video could show priests doing things people would consider “cool” (relatable), like running a marathon, listening to an ipod, or playing Wii Bowling. Maybe the video could show priests, for lack of a better word, being human or less than perfect. By this, I mean, saying a “bad word” if you get a papercut, rolling your eyes when someone asks you to do something, or maybe not doing the dishes (funny). I haven’t seen the Windows/Bill Gates commercials you mention in your podcast, but I’m assuming that the underlying messsage is “buy Vista/Microsoft/etc”, so the viral video could have an underlying messsage that God doesn’t expect us to be perfect or that we can still serve God if we aren’t perfect.
