The 2008 ‘inverted’ Giving Campaign!
“It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving” – Mother Teresa
As you know, SQPN is made possible thanks to the gifts and the prayers of our audience. For the last two years, you have given us tremendous support during our two Giving Campaigns.
Inverted Giving Campaign
This year however, we know how difficult and uncertain the economic situation has become for many of you. That is why the SQPN board has decided to do a complete reversal of the Giving Campaign this year: instead of asking for your gifts, WE will give to YOU (and trust God’s providence for the rest!)
Giving thanks
The month of November is the month of thanksgiving. We want to thank you for being our audience, for all your support, encouragements and prayers ever since we started SQPN. And to express our thanks, we have a number of gifts for you in store, that we will unveal over the course of this ‘inverted giving campaign.
Our first gift
The first one is the opening of the official SQPN forums! Starting today, SQPN has a new place where you can hang out, talk, share, learn, pray and have fun with friends and podcasters. Check it out at forums.sqpn.com!
We have many more suprises lined up, so keep an eye on this website.
Staying afloat
We have done our best to be good stewards of the financial support you gave us previously. By being as prudent as possible in our spending, we hope to be able to stay afloat for a few more months. Of course, if you have the ability to support us financially, we would be very grateful for anything you can do. Click here if you want to donate.
I just made my annual donation this week, in anticipation on the giving campaign. Keep up the great work!
While I know you are focusing on what YOU are giving US, I want to let you know that I intend to continue in my present level of monthly giving. I wish I could increase it, but my pay raise and my rent increase this summer were startlingly similar.
We had a good year this year, and I was planning on increasing my monthly contribution as well. You may be pleasantly surprised at the loyalty of many of your listeners when it comes to giving.
I listen to the daily breakfast every morning when I commute in to work, and take my daughter to school. It is a nice alternative to morning talk radio. I understand if daily is too much work for you, but I do enjoy the daily format. Someone once mentioned that it would be nice if you could put the peculiar bunch at the beginning of the show and not the end. I feel frustrated when you are tackling a thought provoking question, and the thought of the day music comes on, when you babbled on for 10 minutes about tv or video games earlier in the show.
Also, I think it is okay to not record a whole bunch of shows at once when you go away. It sounds canned and less fresh when you do it that way. I would rather wait for the real thing.
Just my 2 cents. thanks for all the amazing work you do. SQPN has been a huge part of my faith journey.
Just wanted to say our family enjoys many of the SQPN shows – including the Daily Breakfast. We also plan to continue our monthly giving to SQPN — hopefully many others will do the same.
When you revealed the inverse-giving campaign, I thought “What genius!” I think “staying-afloat” may also also be a prudent thought.
Does SQPN.com have to “grow” and behave like some media business model? What is wrong with maintaining and enduring given the current times? I’m not saying not to strive to gain audience, just that “growth” need not be such a driving force.
Fr. Roderick, your creativity, genuine demeanor, and drive are sufficient. It’s how SQPN started. When you act on your ideas the audience will come. Leave “growth” for the ulcer-laden crowd executives. Pace yourself here as well as out in a marathon.
