Thanks for all you do! I have been listening to your podcasts for about 1 1/2 years now and love them! The Rome podcasts are great! Can you share some of the names of these wonderful restaurants that you are visiting in your trips so that we can plan to visit them in our next trip to Rome?

The Sisters you speak of in Rome (SSVM) actually have a convent house here at my parish in Santa Clara, CA – what a coincidence! They are part of the active/missionary group of the congregation and help teach CCD and other similar things.

Dear Father,

The sisters you speak about, that live in the Dutch priesthouse in Rome, are that the same sisters as the sisters that live in Heilloo (heiligdom van Onze Lieve Vrouwe ter Nood). I know them as the Blue Sisters of Anima Christi (Anima Chisti is the name of the general superior). The congregation has contemplative sisters as well as priests and missionary sisters. They are a big religieus family

I really enjoyed this episode. That was a wonderful audio travel log and I could almost visulaize it myself. Also, I have to say hearing the enthusiasm in your voice as you talked about working on a thesis was totally inspiring. It makes me really want to better schedule and organize my own time to take on some personal goals that I have had for some time, but just have been putting off!

I was laughing when you described how you asked if you could audio record the scavi tour at Saint Peter’s. I had the same idea when I did the tour in January of 2006, and I got the same answer.

It is truly an amazing tour, but you did a great job of capturing some of the highlights after the fact. I, too, remember being very moved by coming across the tomb of Pope John Paul II upon leaving site of Saint Peter’s tomb.

Hello Fr. Roderick and DB listeners,

On December 10th groups will present petitions asking the United Nation’s General Assembly to make abortion a universally recognized human right for women. The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute created an alternate petition drive that calls for government to interpret the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as protecting the unborn child from abortion. They need at least 100,000 signatures from all over the world by December 10th, the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. There are only about 450 signatures from the Netherlands! The petition can be signed electronically here -. There are only a few days left!

Well, the Episcopalians refer to theirs as the Reverend Dr. John Doe, so Fr Roderick, if you invest two years of your life to your thesis, once you defend, you would be Fr Dr Roderick V.

(Actually, that describes the Pastor of my parish as he has a Ph.D. himself. But we just call him Fr Dan.)
