Dear Father Seraphim,Thank you for playing the recording of the little Welsh Children singing 'The Seven Joys of Mary' a traditional 14th century Carol. Monmouth is on the border of England with South East Wales. We have two Greyfriars in Monmouth and a larger Grefriars in Cardiff and the ruins still exists as Henry VIII destroyed it.The children always fight to sing the solos! It is very popular and of course you can hear it must have been part of popular devotion at one time. When they go around the hopital wards at Christmas, they always sing this.If you ever have some time, can you send me this Franciscan devotion?Happy New Year or as we say in Wales Blywyddyn Newydd Dda i Pawb!

Even though I have been over here in Austria for more than a year, I'm always learning more about the Catholic traditions here in Europe. It's all part of the great richness that makes up the Catholic Church. Stay tuned for more of my discoveries!

As a European, it is very funny to listen to those experiences of Fr. Seraphim in Austria, when he thinks about things like those strange Silvester parties and when he realizes that those parties are actually ordinary New Year parties.

It shows the variety and differences in tradidions even between similar cultures like the US and Europa (here: Austria). I like that aspect of the CutH podcast - even if it is only a little "side note" in the show.
