Great news from Rome this week, that Blessed Fr. Damien de Veuster, the priest to the lepers of Molokai is to be canonized in October. I knew it would only be a matter of time before Blessed Fr. Damien would be elevated to join the ranks on the Saints. A man of his humility and love of the outcast certainly personifies Christ. It is a beautiful day for the Church to have such a witness among us.
In a sense, Fr. Damien, was like a male Mother Teresa, as he too cared for the sick and for those who were looked down upon in society.
