  4. Hope you can get the Achilles healed so you can still do your marathon. But you are right to not do it if it hurts. I (stupidly) ran 20+ miles on an injured Achilles as part of a relay race. The next day, I could not even walk on it and had to rehab it over a 6-week period (no running at all). Then it was months and months before I could run the kind of mileage I was used to.

    In my case it was due to a tight calf muscle but also due to the mechanics of my foot. I now wear custom orthotics which helps a lot. That, and being diligent about stretching my calves and achilles after a run.

    Hope it heals quickly for you! :)

    P.S. So far my “Fr. Roderick Be Healthy” pics in my cabinet/pantry/fridge/freezer are working…
