  1. Hello Father Roderick =)

Thank you for thoughtfully including links to the virtual tours of the “secret archives!”

  2. Thank you for this podcast. I find it hilarious how the book/movie and some conspiracy theorist like to make it seem like the Vatican hides things.

I was watching some show on the History Channel about the Vatican and some pseudo-histories who had written a rag about the Vatican tried to show how secretive the Vatican was by describing how you could not take a backpack into the Vatican’s Archives and you were only allow a pad and pencil. He tried to make this out to be some kind of scandle. I watched it thinking, “That’s the exact same thing they make you do at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.”

Any good archive is going to be like that, but try telling that to conspiracy theorists. It’s a joke.

  3. These episodes are awesome! They are very educational and have great humor. I learned things I didn’t know. I left you a review on iTunes under user name jp1264. The privacy of American Federal documents is no different. It is many years before they publish documents to the public as well. Love the James Bond references. I’ve seen the Swiss Guards a few times. We had to show them our reservation for the Scavi Tour to get through the guard gate. I will have to watch this movie just to see the James Bond version. :)

  4. Hmm I tried to rate it etc but it wants me to sign up. I tried this in the past. But it wants a valid credit card number just to proceed!!

  5. Here is how you create an iTunes account without a credit card. Apple posted this official tutorial: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

Great podcast series, I went to the movie and was really disappointed. I am glad there is this podcast to clear up any misconceptions brought about by Howard and Brown. If you feel like wasting 9 dollars go see the movie, I recommend you save the money wait for DVD and give the money you would have spent on movie and popcorn to SQPN……

  7. I love this podcast! I finished reading the book a couple weeks ago and I just about speed read to the finish in order to listen to this podcast. As a researcher, I often spend times in the national archives (of Central America). Just as the previous poster said, I’m not allowed to bring my purse or even a folder. A notebook and a pencil, that’s it. I used to grumble about it but now I don’t feel so bad knowing that other archives do the same thing! The movie is actually for sale here on the streets but I’ll wait until I return to the US before I rent it.
