Interesting! I wonder if St. Drogo is a sort of pun or homophonic tribute to coffee's roots as a drug, "droga." He is also a patron of shepherds, and if there's a job that requires staying wide awake at night, it's the shepherd.

I just listened to this episode today. Congrats on the new friary! I'm sure those are hard to come by. My friars have/had a somewhat "not up to code" retreat house/former novitiate house. They've been upgrading. Nice to see coffee so well represented.

When his older brother's were researching Saints for their Confirmation I think we checked out every Saint book from our local library. He read them all and he just latched on to Drogo's story. I believe he was in a book called "Obscure Saints of the Catholic Church" Then we noticed if he did choose Drogo, his initials would be AMDG, so that sealed the deal.

As their Confirmation gift, we always gave our boys' icons. It was easier for my oldest son who chose Aloysius and my middle son who chose Martin of Tours but for Drogo I asked my friend to write an icon for him. Here is it. http://twitpic.com/3yhs4

I was so surprised while listening to this podcast and hear you mention St Drogo! My third son took his name as his Confirmation name. I'll have to show you a picture of the icon we had made of St Drogo for my son's Confirmation gift.
