  1. Goedendag Father Roderick! It’s great hearing your podcast. I listened to this episode and found it quite interesting. As I am a Protestant Christian, I just had a couple of questions.
    1. What is a rosary?
    2. Do catholic priests need to wear the robes when they’re out and about?

Dank u wel en God zegene u,
    Matt
P.S. I don’t speak Dutch. Just learning for fun!

  2. @Matt – a rosary is the Christian version of prayer beads. It’s not only used by Catholics, but also by Orthodox Christians (although theirs is different) and some Protestant denominations like Lutherans, Episcopalians and Anglicans. Back when I was a Protestant (Calvinist) I used the rosary prayer to meditate on certain events in Christ’s life. Since John Calvin had a Marian devotion himself, I thought it wouldn’t hurt: the focus of the Rosary is on Christ and not on Mary. She’s only the ‘vehicle’ that keeps you focused on Jesus.

I was happy to hear that Fr. Roderick’s Rosary blessings are waterproof. But then again, maybe he’s biased.

  3. @Inge – thank you for explaining that! Makes more sense now. :)

  4. I just wanted to let the caller know that he isn’t alone in his feelings about Star Trek! I submit that it was somewhat shortsighted of JJ Abrams to DESTROY A PLANET

  5. …crucial to the Star Trek universe! Short-term thrills at the long-term expense of the series/universe…

  6. Just catching up on podcasts- thanks to Chris for his feedback-very inspirational & belated happy birthday to Ian! :-)
