  1. New Media

I fully agree that new media needs to be used so much in new world
Even for WYD 2008 here in Sydney I thought we could have had much better media audio coverage “Online”

  2. Hi Fr. Roderick. I was really surprised to hear about all of the negative responses you received over Twitter for the new priests campaign. It is unfortunate that people feel that way, however, I think that though the use of new media, hearts are being softened and people will come to better understand the Church.

  3. Hi Father Roderick,
Just listened to this Daily Breakfast podcast. I also watched the Archbishop Eijk livestream podcast and followed it on Twitter searching for “@eijk” to see which messages the bischop was getting. Unfortunatly the Dutch website Geenstijl decided to hijack the proceedings. With the article below (Dutch language):

    http://www.geenstijl.nl/mt/archieven/2009/06/gezellig_gristenen_ontdekken_i.html

They asked all their millions of readers to bully the bishop. This is something they often do with other targets as well.

Their slogan in Dutch is “nodeloos kwetsend” which means “needlessly offensive” .

The real level of hate was probably lower than it seemed, the offensive Twitters who were ganging up on @eijk , were basically teasing or bullying spurred on and coordinated by the Geenstijl.nl website.
