  1. Mmm…

Is Daily Breakfast becoming daily? I hope it!

By the way, how can I download the first episodes? Is there any way? I know that I can listen to them, but I would like to download them.

    Thanks again, Father.

    Antonio

  2. I really enjoyed this episode. I love all the geek talk ;)

Looking forward to recording another episode of Biggest Loser Podcast tomorrow. ;)

  3. Ok, my feedback to this episode:

    1) Audio feedback: I am a little bit hesitant to call in… ;) Yes, a coward… But I am sure that the feedback will come back once everybody realizes that the regularity is coming back to the Daily Breakfast and that the feedback is of use in a timely manner. (I have to stress: I do not mean this in any negative way!) :)

    2) What shows should you continue, what shows should you do..? Well, ask 10 people and I am sure that you will get 20 answers. :) My personal favorites are (in this order):
    - Catholic Insider (yes, to me it is the crown of podcasting and I was in Podcast heaven back in 2005)
    - Daily (! ;) ) Breakfast [30 minutes]
    - Secrets of Lord of the Rings [a “Kiwi”/Fr. Roderick cooperation would be awesome)

I am not a big fan of the Healthy Catholic and also not of the Biggest Loser (but I do like Cliff Ravenscraft’s work!!!). But this is only because of the topic. I don’t have a weight problem and I am not that interested in the topic. These are the only shows of you, I don’t listen to. But I do know that there are many listeners out there, who do love or would love those shows!

The most important thing (my two cents): whatever you do – do it! There is no try! ;) And bring back the regularity to the Daily Breakfast, if it is possible at all.

And last, but not least: Congratulations to your TV “job”!

I am looking forward to your shows!

  4. Hi Father

Great to have to shows in two day’s ;-)

    About your question if someone uses digital media into his prayer life;

I recently bought an Ipod touch and I’ve discovered a great app called Universalis. The Liturgy of the Hours on you’re ipod. It costs a few bucks but I use it every day. So I pray daily the liturgy of the hours on my ipod for a few months now. My portable prayer book everywhere I go. It replaces my ‘klein getijdenboek’ which I used for two years.

    About Universalis
    http://www.universalis.com
Doesn’t need a connection (everything is on the pod). Free version doesn’t support this.
    The saint of the day
    The readings at mass
A office of readings with a piece of work of a saint
Lauds, terts, sext, noon, vespers and compline.
    Highly recommended

And as meditation I use a Jesuit podcast called “pray as you go”. Really wonderful and helpful with great thoughts and beautiful music.

The daily breakfast is my favourite and I’m looking forward to your television début.

A thin layer of marmite on a with bread cheese sandwich is one of my favourites.

  5. Great show Fr. Roderick, we are still listening even if we aren’t saying much these days. =)

  6. My favorite podcasts are on the shorter side, since I listen to them at night after putting my son to bed and I tend to fall asleep during the long ones! I really enjoy the LOTR and Harry Potter podcasts and the Daily Breakfast when I have time.

One thing that would be nice is a series on the Bible for beginners. I would love a podcast that goes through the major events of the Bible in a timeline fashion, and brings out the most important points. The Catholic Bible studies that are on podcast right now are a little too in depth for casual listening, I think. A lot of younger Catholics are not very familiar with the Bible and it’s too bad. But they won’t listen to an in-depth study, because of time or because it gets too complicated. If there was someone who could produce that type of a podcast, in half-hour episodes, I would definitely listen!

My favorite non-SQPN Catholic podcasts are Faith and Family Live! and Two Edge Talk. http://www.twoedgetalk.com The latter is only 15 minutes long, perfect for me!

    Prayers for your mission!
    Laura

  7. Hi Father-
I really love the Secrets of Harry Potter and always am excited when the new one comes out. In regard to the iprayer- I think it would be great for novenas. When I start them, it is a challange to remind myself to keep going. I might misplace the book… you get the idea or just plan forget! I enjoy the Daily Breakfast and hope you’re blessed in the work you do.
    In Christ-
    Susan

  8. Father Roderick,

I think the word you were searching for regarding the “fleeting” nature of digital/web content was…
impermanent! Sounds sophisticated and poetic at the same time, I think. I learn so much by listening to the wide variety yet interconnected podcasts SQPN offers. I am a catechumen, and they are deepening my faith and understanding, as well as making me smile!
