    Angels and zombies

How can demons manifest themselves, and how can angels appear to people in the Bible when both demons and angels are pure spirits? And do zombies have souls? In the latest episode of The Break, Saint Thomas Aquinas comes to the rescue and answers a few of our questions.

Three-time winner of the ‘Best Religious Podcast of the Year’ award at the People’s Choice Podcast Awards, The Break with Fr. Roderick is a fun and informative mix of entertainment, new media and new evangelization.

    The Church is Holy

In his latest episode of ‘iPadre’, Fr. Jay Finelli presents a talk given by Fr. Pio Mandato on the Holiness of the Church. Some people might question how we can still say that the Church is holy considering the scandals we have seen in the past few years.  This episode of ‘iPadre’ will go to the heart of the question.

Father Jay Finelli is a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence in the state of Rhode Island. He began building web pages in 1995 and started podcasting in September of 2005.

Great comments on LOTRO! You have to be careful it doesn’t start replacing Real Life :-) I’ve found setting aside certain times to play and setting limits on play time are useful too.

    Secrets of FrontierVille

One of the ways in which SQPN reaches out to new audiences is by producing shows that build bridges between the world of popular culture and the world of faith. One of the fastest growing industries is that of online digital entertainment, and SQPN has a number of shows that take movies and video games as a starting point for discussion and community building.

In addition to our already popular show about FarmVille – an online game played by 70-80 million people, SQPN launches another show around the popular game FrontierVille. In FrontierVille, the player is a settler who has to cultivate his homestead so he or she can start a family and build a town.

The Secrets of FrontierVille combines tips and strategies for players with discussions about the history and culture of these early American settlers. The new show is hosted by an international panel, consisting of Fr. Roderick (Netherlands), Deborah Schaben (Florida), Ariadna Quijano (Mexico) and Jim Beegley (Pennsylvania). The show also has a presence on Facebook, where listeners can exchange tips and give feedback.

This is a good tip. Terry, but not really. I stumbled on this for myself. Wish I would have had this wonderful site and tips.

When you are digging grass, harvesting animals or plants, and chopping trees, varmits may pop up. if one of these pops up, continue with what you are doing. EXAMPLE: you were digging up a skull and a snake pops up. BUT if you have more than one skull, rock, or cactus to get rid of, leave the snake there!! you cant have more than one, so dont use up your energy getting rid of a varmit if another one might pop up right after that if you were still digging at somthing else!! Hope this helps :D

Hi, i listen to most of your podcasts, and i love secrets of frontierville. I have a question that relates to both frontierville and farmville:

You often mention a ‘game-feed’, but have never explained what it actually is (as far as i remember), could you explain what it is and where to find it?

      Thanks, Donna

FrontierVille is much better than FarmVille
The only problem is the energy refill and the fact that to complete a building you need friends.

Hi from Baltimore, Maryland. I have a tip that seems to work for me for sending gifts. Start with the Gift Request section to give gifts to people because you’re giving them exactly what they need. Do this before going to the Free Gift section to send gifts to a complete list of people. If you do the mass gifting first you may miss what your friends are actually requesting.

Great show! Please keep it up!

Trees: when hiring, it is cost effective to get them to chop trees. Chop only big trees. Let the smaller ones grow. The tiny trees can be moved, move them to the side. Oaks seem to be big at 12 chops, pines at 8.

    Catholic in China

Don’t miss the newest episode of the Catholic Family podcast! In this special edition of Catholic Family, David Sweeney interviews a friend from China about the challenges and beauty of being a Catholic in this country.

Catholic Family is a show about ‘Living Simply Within Your Means’, and is hosted by David and Allyson Sweeney.

Thanks for sharing this powerful witness of the faith in China! I think this family is fortunate that they are American, because they can homeschool their five children according to the Catholic faith. Regular Catholic families in China are only allow to have one child, because of the mandatory one-child policy. There is no Catholic school in China, and children are indoctrinated with atheistic ideology in schools. This vast country is thirsty for the truth that is found in the Catholic faith. Our Lady Help of Christians, pray for the Church in China.

oh, I can’t wait to listen to this. I lived in China in 2001 for a short time and someone invited me to go to church with them, I was delighted to find out it was a Catholic Church. Of course, I couldn’t find the church if I wanted to… it was pretty hidden. But, even hearing the Mass in Mandarin, is one of the stronger memories I have of that time.

    New: Catholic Pilot!

With the launch of the new website, SQPN is happy to welcome a new podcast to its line-up: Catholic Pilot, by our own captain Jeff! You already know captain Jeff as one of the hosts of Catholic Weekend, SQPN’s weekly show that talks about everything that happens in the Church and in the world.

“Just think of me as your neighbor or parishioner who happens to be an airline pilot”, says captain Jeff. ”Something you’ve always wondered about? Shoot me an email or send in some audio feedback. You really don’t want to listen to me ramble on and on aimlessly, do you?”

In addition to the episodes on SQPN.com, you can find the shows own website at http://www.catholicpilot.com

Well, Mr. Sweeney, I do believe that’s your daughter, Katherine! (Last year’s CNMC in San Antonio). She was dutifully helping me sell SQPN t-shirts. You and Allyson must be very proud parents!

The Catholic Pilot hasn’t been in the SQPN line-up before? I wasn’t aware of that.

The show is a must-listen. I am looking forward to every single episode and it is one of the few podcasts I listen to immediately after a new episode is released.

    Star Quest Enterprise

In its quest to build a bridge between popular culture and the tradition and culture of the Catholic faith, SQPN wants to invite you to one bridge in particular: the bridge of the Enterprise!

Star Trek is one of the most well-known and popular science fiction franchises in the world. The TV series and movies have fascinated generations of fans, and with success of the new Star Trek movie by ‘Lost’ creator J.J. Abrams, Star Trek begins a new phase in its existence.

In ‘Secrets of Star Trek’, self-proclaimed trekkers and trekkies Maria Johnson, Mike Kuypers, Steve Nelson, Mark de Vries and Fr. Roderick explore the literary, philosophical, religious and moral themes in the stories of the Starship Enterprise.

You can listen to the show for free on iTunes and on SQPN.com.
