I thought of something while listening to this episode: how does Gandalf know that Thrain II is in Dol Guldur? How did he get word or find out that the Necromancer had him, that the Necromancer was in league with Smaug (which we learn from the Quest of Erebor), and that Thrain had a map and key? Did he know all these things before Thrain was captured? Was his capture a result of wearing a dwarven ring?
