    SQPN Meetup in Madrid!

Access is free, no tickets needed, just let the organisation know you plan on being there!

After the iCat encounter, I’m sure we can find a nice place to hang out and talk.

Help me spread the word via Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and email. And you can let me know if you plan on joining me via @fatherroderick on Twitter.

Looking forward to meeting you in person!!!

    More information about iCat:

The “iCat” network encounter will take place on Friday, August 19 in the Palacio de Deportes of the Municipality of Madrid, a location with room for 9 000 people, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm (AVENIDA FELIPE II, S/N, 28009 Madrid, Spain).

    Yardbirds and Pollos

Nothing says Southern like fried chicken. Jeff Young reviews the new movie, The Help, and discusses the delicate subject of racism, particularly the stigma of it most often found in the southern region of the United States. Still, there are happy memories of his youth…some of which involve chickens running around with their heads cut off. For real!

It wouldn’t be an episode of The Catholic Foodie without a recipe for — you guessed it — roasted chicken, and the delightful Sarah Reinhard brings us a segment of Mary in the Kitchen, this time from her real office in the kitchen.

    Bishop Fisher: “WYD Converts Bishops”

For his Dutch TV-show, Fr. Roderick interviewed Australian bishop Anthony Fisher from the diocese of Parramatta. Bishop Fisher organized the WYD in Sydney, and now gives advice to the Spanish organisation in Madrid.

Bishop Fisher talks about the impact of World Youth Day on Australia. “The World Youth Days convert bishops,” he says, “they convert priests. They make us more open to young people. To their needs, to their language and their aspirations for the world. World Youth Day gave me much more hope for the future.”

    Medieval Books

In the latest episode of Catholic: Under the Hood, Fr. Seraphim discusses medieval books. They were the livelihood of the medieval monk but they were rare and expensive. Not surprisingly this meant various and creative ways to protect them. Have a listen to this new media program about some of the oldest media used by the Church.

    Beer and Banter “Among Women”

Social media opens the world to us. We can spend a lot of time playing around and posting silliness, but this easy banter that we develop with strangers sometimes leads to meaningful relationships.

Every status update on Facebook, Tweet, or post on a blog is an opportunity to touch people and celebrate our fellowship with Jesus Christ.

Sarah Vabulas of CatholicDrinkie.com shares her enthusiasm for beer, her faith, and engaging in opportunities for evangelization with Pat Gohn as this week’s guest on Among Women. They discuss the importance of Catholic new media and Sarah’s amazing pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey.

You’ll want to hear about her experience in Ephesus, including a moving visit to Mary’s house.

Listen to Among Women 106: A Pilgrimage to Mary’s House.
